Moving to Dubai, a few questions

After visiting a few months ago it looks like next spring my wife and I will be relocating to Dubai, exciting stuff but now trying to get a feel for it too, so a few questions. I want to sell our UK property but the other half is reluctant to loose our place on the UK property ladder (especially as ...

Re: how come?

How come you are moving to a new country and the thing that worries you most is TV? Haha, no but I like to watch it and don't see the point if it's censored beyond reason. At the same time I don't really want to get into trouble for buying The Sopranos or something off the web. drinking beer? All d...

Hi there Godfathers. Unfortunatly what you are asking is like, I bandaged my swollen leg after a football injury, how do I do heart surgery? To train as an architect takes 7 years in the UK (I don't know about elsewhere), including placements and even then you have to be both talented and lucky befo...

Nearest tube is Tower Hill so for an easy commute, anything on the district line. Sadly looking at the tube map there doesn't look like too many cheap areas. Acton in Zone 3 is ok and you'll get a cheaper flat than Earls Court for example. Not too far from the DLR either, you may get a good house sh...

Stop Smoking by Allen Carr, my missus read this book 2 months ago and says has had no desire to smoke, even with me smoking around her. Her temper was a bit up on the first few days of quitting but imagine that's to be expected.

Going to start reading it myself at the end of this week.

Christmas Day in Dubai

Got family visiting over the Christmas and New Year period. Our apartment is a bit pokey for turkey and all the trimmings so any suggestions on hotels or clubs for Christmas day? Also any suggestions for Hogmany? Can't really take my dad to an RnB club and the Irish Village has some annoying punters...

Depends on the profession. Some of those in the blue boiler suits, living in labour camps would make killing in the UK while certain professional jobs are over saturated there but there seems to be decent enough positions here in Dubai.

I went go-karting today for the first time in my life. Despite getting lapped by girls half my age and spinning out on almost every corner, I had a superb time.

Recommend it to anyone

As mentioned the Autodrome, it's just past the Global Village. We went on the outside track. Big and has dips and hills too. We had two 15 mins sessions with a break in between.

yes, i´m a qualified diver (PADI MSDT). Is it easy to go to Oman to dive? Are the spots better? I´ve heard they floated 2 jets close to the palm for divers? Just wreck diving in the Dubai due to the developments. Oman is about an 8 hour round trip so best make a weekend of it. Some of the schools i...

Thank you for the money, all the money I'm making
Thanks to all the sheikhs, I'm shaking,
Who could live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say, thank you for the money
For giving it to meeeeeeeee.

I understand you're posting from frustration but what you are suggesting is practically impossible. For a start a publication would have to sell all their ad space in this way, they cannot only sell what they have left over on the next run as this devalues their own product to those who have took ou...

OK, I've just had a quick look at your website and it does you no favours at all. The design is fairly woeful by todays standards, a lot of people think design is irrelevent but it instils convidence in a prospective customer. Considering your field, you don't need to go over the odds with a redesig...

As for the website, well it is the old adage, I'm a hypnotherapist and not a web designer. And yes, it probably shows. Fair enough, and essentially you are a sole trader so nothing wrong with giving it a go yourself. However the old adage "you get what you pay for" rings true slightly. Wh...

Cycling in Dubai

Thinking about getting myself a road/mountain bike for a bit of fresh air and general fitness.

Obviously riding it on the roads in Dubai is out so where can I ride it other than the promenade along Jumeirah open beach?
