in my personal experience bayt has been the best source. they have the most comprehensive database of white collar jobs in dubai. i know several who have secured jobs through them. my partner and i have actively referred them to other successful job seekers in dubai.

luckily your profession might favor you as emirates expands and looks to hire more. now even etihaad is coming in direct exposure and competition to it. currently bec of the slowdown i recommend stay where you are but as soon as things pick up i would think your profession would be in good need

you say not all locals are rich. can you provide examples? i was under the impression that all local emiratis are given land and money w/o effort. in addition they serve as silent partners to foreigners who set up businesses in dubai. how wrong is this? if it is right then they are called lazy right...

ha, what goes up must come down indeed. while this may have been a valid theory back when it was posted, it has lost all substance as we speak in feb of 2009. dubai will continue to decline before it stablilizes, and i doubt it will hit the levels it was at from 2003- early 2008

inter religious marriages are completely allowed and accepted. just be very careful how you go about it. you must have all the necessary paperwork, declarations, power of attorneys, etc. you might need permission letters and such as well. it is a bit more complicated when there is a muslim involved ...

unfortunately i don't think many people have that option. when you lose your job, your work visa expires. there is no other way to prolong your stay unless you have enough money to buy land, which very few are doing in my understanding. sad indeed...but necessary

we had success last summer finding a private tutor who came home for lessons on craiglist dubai. check it out whenever looking for services like that. also make sure you interview them well first to test their skills

why not consider ebusiness? maybe ecommerce or a content based site to sell advertisement. low cost and you can do it from home. anyone doing this successfully right now? i make my living doing just that.
