I remember of one story of where parents left their two children in the car in a casino parking lot while they went to gamble for 4 or 5 hours. Someone found them, smashed the windows and the kids were taken to hospital for heat ex...

Labor Cards

I hired someone in my team, and this person can start straight away as she is on her father's visa, so there is minimal paperwork. But my finance/HR dept are telling me that they officially cannot start in working until their labor card is processed. Is this true? Can we start this person and just a...

Nope, Salik and V-kool don't work Got my new car the day Salik started, agency advised it was fine, then after a week I called Salik to check how much is my balance - it was still 50Dh with a week's worth of fines. So off to V-kool I went to vent my frustration - they had to cut out the tinting wher...

well said burton. Having said that though, I am a filipina, raised in NZ and Australia since I was 4. I married an Aussie and consider myself Aussie. And whilst I do get some curious looks (from other filipinos mainly) because I have a 'western' husband, it bothers me a bit, that somehow I fit into ...

I like The One.

I didn't find them to be *too* expensive and its fairly modern. They're in Jumeirah (next to Mosque) or in Mall of the Emirates.

hmmm, if you read the actual email, it sounds slightly over the top...But also seemed that the student actually needed a wake up call. Sounds like she asked for an extension after the due date, which doesn't always solicit a positive response. But, there is a thing called tact, he probably shouldn't...

I agree with bleakus - the lecturer should have not taken things so far and the student really should have been paying more attention to her studies. nonetheless i think expelling the lecturer was a bit harsh. Supposedly now there is an added factor in this regarding the treatment of international ...

One thing I have noted is that in a lot of shops the staff ask for 1 or 2 dhs so they can give you your change in notes. A couple of time recently I have been asked for a 1 or 2 dhs on amounts like 39 as change for a 50 and been giving 11 dhs back (1 ten note and 1 dhiram coin, probably the same on...

I think 100K for rent for a 4 person family is a little on the low side. Depends where you want to live, I suppose 30K a month is decent cash. You can live here on that, but you'll have to really careful with what you spend it out. It would probably be better if your spouse also worked. Also take in...

Try the major developers - damac, nakheel, emaar, dubai properties. there are plenty of others as well (look them up on AMEinfo.com) You can also try the big names in real estate - Landmark, Remax, Better Homes to name a few. Their websites will probably have a listing of any job vacancies. Good luc...

The border crossing  ...

Nizwa is interesting to visit but not the quickest route. Sohar about halfway on the coast maybe. I'd just carry on to Muscat though. About 4 hrs.

i liked Sentosa island...lots to do there and you could spend the whole day there. Also go to the Zoo - this place is cool. Its an 'open' zoo, much like Dubbo (assuming you know Dubbo Zoo). Even if you're not a Zoo fan, this is a different experience. Try the Night Safari, I didnt get a chance to, b...

I have a friend who lives in a 3br apartment at the Burj residences, and they have 2 medium sized dogs (spaniels). Taken for walks twice a day, they do get hot and bothered, but are generally fine. This is strange. As an aussie licence holder I was able to rent a car even when I was on my visit visa (international licence). When I got my residence visa, and dubai licence, none of these rules were pointed out to me. I dont know if the same would apply for a US passport holder, but it really sho...
