Re: 1st Job for girlfriend...

Hi all, My girlfriend is planning on coming to Dubai and as with everyone else who comes, is looking for a job. She's just graduated from St. Xaviers College in Bombay and has no professional work experience, making the hunt that much harder. However, I know that here on DF there are lots of great ...

I am a big time sceptic and curiosity has got the better of me ...

So there is no way of getting a Dubai driving license with a Sharjah work permit? I'm I missing anything? What difference does it make which Emirate issues your license? It is still an UAE license and you have to comply with the traffic laws (well, in theory anyway) wherever you drive. If I am not ...

If you don't qualify to sponsor your husband (or during the application process) he can come on a tourist visa and look for a job on his own as I would imagine he would seek employment even if he entered the UAE on your sponsorship.

It is certainly going to mess up some of the roads in Dubai, I can't see it being that great a move... but you know... maybe they know something we don't. I don't think they know. It's a bad idea with the present infrastructure - 8 dirhams a day wont be a deterant for most people = 160 dirhams per month. 8 dirhams? Try 16 Dirhams or more for a lot of people - or more likely the majority of people. You are right I forgot the Deira/sharjah to Jebel Ali journey that a lot of pe...

I had to buy the 'sucka kit' for 100Dhs as well. 700,000 registered vehicles in Dubai x 100 = 7mil and it did not start yet!

How about 70,000,000 Million (you wer off by 63M)!
