Re: Malaysia Air Bans Babies in First Class

It's fair enough, given the cost of First classw travel, that those who can afford it should be able to have their peace whilst travelling. Maybe airlines should have 'family' sections, with all the necessary requirements for parents travelling with youngsters. I agree that some supposed adults trav...

Re: Tattoos. Like them or Hate Them?

 Boring. As I stated previously, the reason I have mine there is because a. I have virtually no feeling in my lower spine, so it didn't hurt and b. because I can't see it and c. it's in the middle of my body. To be honest I've never heard to tattoos in that area referred to that way at all - m...

Re: Tattoos. Like them or Hate Them?

Not really. Why suffer the pain if you don't have to? It's in a place where it's only on show if I want it to be! I forget I have it most of the time.

They're my personal reasons and not for anyone else to judge - cheers.

Re: IPhone or Blackberry?

I love my BB, never had an iphone but my OH has and he's now a BB convert. I think if you want something that does what it says on the tin, with ease of use go for the BB. If you're an apps person and want all the whistles and bells get an iphone. However, it might well be worth considering an Andro...

Re: Malaysia Air Bans Babies in First Class

Nice post Kid (can't believe I just said that  ). But I think with regards to the FC situation, it's fair enough. Why don't airlines have family sections onboard? I don't think anyone would suggest that children can't or shouldn't fly, but why can't there be a designated area for them? Not su...

Re: Tattoos. Like Them Or Hate Them?

Am I really to believe that it isn't painful chocs? :) Duh, of course it's painful as you're having a needle/s repeatedly going into the skin. But as I KEEP saying, I have limited feeling in my lower spine, so I don't have much sensation, hence why I fell asleep having it done. Plus women do have a...

Re: IPhone or Blackberry?

Good grief Zonker! No, no, no, no, no.! Practically ALL phones these days are smart phones, regardless of operating system. Apple make iphone, RIM make BB, Google created the Android OS which runs on the Galaxy AND other types of phones. Android has now overtaken Apple as the number one OS for smart...

Re: A Disturbing PM!

WOuldn't surprise me, the lazy journos at Gulf News have a nasty habit of trolling forums and stealing 'quotes' from people. On the subject matter at hand though, yes it is illegal to have a child out of wedlock here. Very dangeours to try and abort a baby here, as if there are any complications and...

Re: Guineapigs. Please help!

Don't be daft, lots of people have Guinea Pigs here. To bring animals into Dubai or the UAE for that matter, you require import and export permits. The best thing to do is to have a look on the DEFRA website.

Even so DEFRA can give all the necessary info about exporting animals from the UK to the UAE. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries are the ones who deal with it here - and no, there isn't much info on their website.

Re: A Disturbing PM!

May be they can't get on a plane, may be they don't have their passport, may be their sponsor won't allow them to take a leave. For many workers they cannot take a leave before 2 years in their contract Well you simply can't do it here and if they do somehow find a way too, as I said the risk of co...

Re: Last Space Shuttle Flight

I think it's tragic, it really makes me feel sad that these amazing vehicles are going to end up in museums or with private collectors.

No K, they're not replacing them. All future manned missions will use the Russian Soyuz rockets to get where they need to go.

Re: Last Space Shuttle Flight

There have been plenty of space tourists already. Yes I agree the shuttles are past it. However, they had capabilities which the rockets just don't come upto, such as their huge cargo space and the robotic cargo bay arm for carrying out repairs. I mean Hubble wouldn't have come to fruition without t...

Re: The Euro Millions.

Money isn't everything. Plus who cares - it's the 'Euro' millions. Here we have National Bonds, which are the same idea as Premium Bonds and pretty good actually. Although no I think your name has to be something like Fatima Mahmoud to be able to win something.

Re: Strange Names!

Not strange at all - it's just you BM. Harper is actually a very common name for both boys and girls in the US, plus Posh has been in Harper's Bazaar a few times. Seven - er it's David's player number - DUH! Plus she was born in the 7th month and the number 7 is lucky!

Not strange in the slightest.

Re: Where To Eat In Ramadan?

Only thing missing is music. Correction, the only thing missing is LIVE music! Bars such as Longs have the music thumping out in the evenings. Ok, they're not allowed to have a dj, but they just whack on cd's. The way they can do this, is the law was always that background music can be as loud as t...

Re: The Euro Millions.

No, but BM constantly refers pretty much everything to the UK, which has zero to do with here. Plus she constantly blows hot air about her - not so interesting - daily life. The reason why? She doesn't live here, so has virtually zero to talk about when it comes to the UAE. -- Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:02 ...

Re: Where to eat in Ramadan?

Iftar's are nice. But I have a major issue with the buffet style ones, where it seems everyone's soul intention to pile their plates with as much food as they can, stuff their faces, go back for more and more and half the food gets thrown away - slightly misses the point and spirit of Ramadan.

Airline prices

Seriously, what's up with airline pricing at the moment?! Everything flying from the UAE to Oz, you practically need to take out a loan to pay for the ticket.

I thought prices were coming down. Is there any particular reason they're so expensive and during off-peak periods as well.

Re: Where to eat in Ramadan?

Mel, many eateries and outlets in malls are open, they're just cordoned off. Most places also deliver. The majority of offices will have a special area for non-fasters to eat and drink. Just don't eat, drink or smoke out in public.

It's really not a hardship here at all.
