Re: Sharjah police conduct door to door hunt for unwed coupl

DD, I agree that there should be some flexibility. As I recall the reason they were soft with the Emirati woman is that it was over 10 years ago, so no point in pursuing prosecution.

MCL, that doesn't prove anything, when EVERY company has to give their workers ramadan working hours regardless of their religion. Eish don't you know that?

Re: RIP Christophe Hissette

DD, could you please show a little bit of respect. There really was no need for that comment and I'm sure you wouldn't want people saying the same if you died in a tragic accident.

Re: Sharjah police conduct door to door hunt for unwed coupl

Ramdan is really not an issue. So many work places block off a room for non-muslim staff to eat and drink and most muslims I work with actively encourage people to carry on as normal as it strengthens their resolve, it's the weak ones who get their knickers in a twist about it all.

Re: is your vpn working?

Yes Etisashite block that one, you can't download it anymore either, you have to install it elsewhere. That's why I use a paid for VPN with 30 servers across the globe to connect to - they can't keep up with those.

Re: Sharjah police conduct door to door hunt for unwed coupl

Of course they are exempt. And people like that really anno me as they miss the true meaning of Ramadan. If you don't have temptation and test yourself, then where is the challenge to the strength of your character. If everyone else is banned from eating, drinking, smoking etc in front of you, then ...

Re: Alcohol from Ajman & UAQ to Dubai

No there is not a huge difference in price between Ajman and UAQ. Also with regard to apply for a licence, you do not require a letter from your employer, you need your labour contract, but you must have a company signature and stamp on the application form. I know this from when I tried to apply fo...

Utterly pathetic sentence for taking a life

When will the authorities learn to limit the engine capacity and car size of young drivers here! They have zero consideration for anyone else. They should have been given at least the maximum penalty. http://www.7days.ae/storydetails.php?id=93495&title=Deadly racers jailed Two young motorists wh...

Re: The Virginity Industry

Urgh once again things like this are so backward. I've said it before and I'll say it again, women can break their hymen at any time, especially if they're very sporty, it can have nothing to do with whether you've had s.e.x or not.

Belgium first European country to ban burka

So Belgium will become the first European country to ban the burka in public places. This leads the way for other countries to do the same. However, you sit and watch the human rights people and the pc brigades go into a flap now. Personally I think it's a good thing and there's the bigger issue of ...

Re: Belgium first European country to ban burka

DD, to answer your question, the reason people like me get so annoyed is that as expats we come to countries like the UAE are constantly get 'respect our laws/culture/way of life' rammed down our throats, yet the same people saying this blatantly ignore the same when they go to our countries and lit...

Shaf, I think you miss the point a little. My point was NO ONE is allowed in public outlets with their face fully covered. Re: Belgium first European country to ban burka

No one is allowed to wear crash helmets, hoodie tops, balaclavas etc in shops, banks etc so why should these women be exempt. The signage for not permitting the wearing of those items are at the discretion of the owners. It's not the LAW. er yes it is actually! Bora, quite frankly I don't care if p...

Re: Belgium first European country to ban burka

^So Chocs - how many of the 30 women in Belgium wearing the burka are doing so because they are forced to by 'insecure small men'? Re: Banks - Has anyone taken them to Task?

Well in all honesty you need to get your company to do the salary transfers earlier then. Don't forget that now all salaries have to go through the central banking system and it can be held up there for at least three days, before being transfered to the relevant banks of employees.

This is why laws are confusing - hypocrisy!

You see this is exactly why people get confused here. OK so a couple are jailed for a month over a kiss, yet a couple have s.e.x get let off and the police officer done. You can bet your bottom dollar if it had been a Western couple, it would have been go directly to jail, appeal upheld etc etc etc....
