Medvezhonok, I think you're a bit of a DA yourself! You have to remember that a very large number of the population will never have experienced a metro before and will have no idea what to expect.

Well all the surrounding countries do drive on the left, so it does make sense. Why be the odd ones out?

Yes because Tsunamis drive on the left ! Coriolis effect man. You know how when you flush your toilet in Dubai the water always moves anticlockwise. In the Southern hemisphere, it flows clockwise. Clockwise is right to left (you start at the right side of the clock and end up on the left side of th...

These things happen, not much you can do about it. Sweat itself doesn't smell, only when it comes into contact with bacteria on the skin. Carry a deodorant with you or some scent for these kinds of trying times.

I believe there are carriages for women and children. But really in this day and age, everyone for themselves.

Did anyone watch the opening last night?

The Dubai One coverage was hysterical, the translator sounded like Borat with a cold. I haven't laughed so much in ages.

Nope! Only certain nationalities can do this. For some you do actually have to get someoneto sponsor a tourist visa for you. A travel agent will be able to give you details and assistance. Or go to the UAE embassy where you live and see if you can apply for your visa that way.

The mreto is very limited to begin with, having only 10 stations open. Once more are open it will be better. BUT they seriously need to look at the timings! Dubai is a 24/7 city, the metro needs to run for longer hours. To stop it at 11pm is barmy! People would use it during the late and early hours...

I love City Centre, but very rarely went into Bin Hendi avenue. As you say people go there for the low to mid range goods and products.

Well now, before you clap your little handies together and jump for joy. The majority of those people were simply joyriding the metro for the novelty factor - so it's not a true representation of people actually using it to commute! That number will drastically go down over the next couple of weeks....

And this one certainly does go up and down and up and down - lol

However, I do have to wonder if they ever tested it with passengers on board and everything running properly before they launched it. It'll take time to bed in, but I'll let the joyriders have their fun before I attempt to use it.

Even when you go to the beaches it's sad to see people just get up and leave all their rubbish behind, especially when there is a bin right next to them.

1. I am married, and will start in Jan if I take the job. My wife will not join me until later. Probably in summer but she will visit for a few weeks. Can I rent a nice furnished studio apart for 6 months and then look for a 1 bedroom, or less hassle to just go for 1 bed straightway furnished., can ...

Hello Sarah. I hate to say it but you will find very little assistance for people with any kind of disability here in Dubai. I hate to use that as a general term, but it's a fact. Autism has been brought up and yes there are centres for that, but very limited. With regards to people with hearing imp...

Well taxis do charge by distance, but because there are so many traffic jams, the meters do now tick over whilst they are sat idle aswell. Discovery Gardens to Trade centre is quite a trek, maybe about 20 mins if the traffic is good, alot longer if it's bad. I think your package is pretty good. Alth...

er I wouldn't call DG THAT close to the beach. But yeah closer than International City. You can get some good deals there at the moment. But yeah you need to stick to your guns over payments and price, landlords can be haggled down these days. If you can, try and deal with a landlord direct, instead...

Haven't used the metro yet, it's not really convenient for me, plus I'll wait a while till all the joyriders have had their fill.
