The visa laws have all just changed. You canoot change a visit visa to a residence/working visa anymore, they will send you back to the UK to enter on the employment visa. Now another issue, are you on Abu Dhabi or Dubai visas? BEcause when you come to change your drivers licence over that can be tr...

Easiest thing to do in that situation is to do a visa transfer from one company to another. No you cannot do the Oman thing anymore.

I have no idea about the marriage situation, but her company was acting illegally in the first place by making her work on a visit visa. If they have given her the job then they should sort the visa asap. They sound dodgy to me.

I have a UK pension, although I don't pay much into it. I've still got my endowment policy from my old house which I'm kinda using as a pension too.

Best bet, bung your savings in a high interest rate account off-shore.

Yes they do. However the Municipality is clamping down on sharing, esp groups of guys living together. But if you have a mixed bunch and don't bug your neighbours or cause trouble, there should be no probs.

Look at www.dubizzle.com

Loads of shares on there.

For that amount your best bet will be International City and Al Ghusais. They are the cheapest areas and you can still get 1 bed apartments for around 55,000 - 60,000 Dhs a year.

You act like that and all you're going to attract are the gold digging, superficial girls. Clearly there...

Hello! I have to say or ask, why people come and just want to hangout with their own? This is a multi-cultural city and an amazing chance to meet people from all over the world and try something new. Forget the British bars, they're full of wasters every night, atmosphere is terrible and the attitud...

I'd say more people can afford to go out here because it's cheaper! Plus with free drinks if you know where to go on certain nights. And no bars and clubs are not ideal places to meet 'good' people! It's a false environment. The best way to meet people is through relaxed social events, dinner with f...

I thought we were talking about meeting 'friends' not picking up girls! They're clamping down on bachelors living together. There are lots of things that are 'illegal' but the authorities turn a blind eye to much of it. Depending where you want to live, sharing is mostly ok, so long as you don't cau...

All the new visa rules are very confusing. I thought this was only for Sharjah where you had to provide a tenancy contract. Contact immigration, they will be able to help you.
