Some of the stations will not stram outside the UAE.

Channel 4 (same group as Radio 4) never used to, you could only get it via the net in the UAE.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

As Ian rightly said, whilst there are people willing to work for such little cash, others will continue to take advantage of that. Look at construction workers, or compound maintenance guys who take home less than 1,000 Dhs a month. Sadly for alot of people, it's take crappy money and live in crappy...

Working freelance here is very very difficult! You have to have a visa. As has been said, you could register yourself as a company through Media City and get a visa that way, but finding regular work could be a challenge. Most of the publishing houses here all have their own in-house photographers, ...

Are you guys kidding me! The Hard Rock has been there for 11 years! That place has been in that area longer than any other building, it used to be the only building in that area. We all used to think the guy who owned it was crazy as it was soooo far away from everything else. I love the HR. Aparent...

Once again with the writing, as I do some freelance writing here, but very few people are able to. All have regular jobs and do it on the side, or are employed by the publishing houses.

You could try contacting Motivate Publishing, ITP or Gulf News and ask how they deal with freelancers.

1 cheque? Come on dude, be realistic, how many people can seriously afford to pay the rent up front for a year, you have to be a bit more flexible. The majority of landlords will accept 2, 3 or even 4 cheques now.

By the way is it a 1 bed apartment?

Arabian ranches you will be paying at least more than double for a 2 bed villa. Just done a quick check on the Better Homes website and the cheapest you'll get a 2 bed villa for is 140,000 Dhs The cheapest place for villas is still Mirdiff, but then you'd be lucky to get anything under 100,000 a yea...

You also have to bear in mind that they always put the basic salary as pretty much the lowest amount in the contracts, as the basic is what companies pay gratuity on when you leave, so the lower it is, the less they have to pay at the end. The rest of the salary is made up of all sorts of allowances...

Adults/Professionals living like students in Dubai

Hmmm was just thinking recently after visiting quite a few friends in their apartments/villas, that professional adults here are being forced to live like students because no-one can afford a place of their own. It's all a bit rubbish really isn't it?! I mean if you're sharing with 2, 3 or 4 other p...

Just wondering how you are going to get your residence visa cancelled without actually being in the counrty, as they have to physically take your passport for this process, then you leave afterwards.

We're not getting upset, but it;s greedy people like you that cause the constant increases in rent and constantly push the prices up. It's about time landlords learned a lesson. Plus Silicon Oasis is, lets face it, in the middle of nowhere, so as Scarlet says, the price is ridiculous, when you can g...

Agents overprice things here by a long way much of the time. I can afford a nice place, that's why I don't live in the middle of no-where. But sersiouly, how do you expect someone to pay for their rent all in one go upfront, bearing in mind the deposit and agents fees, it comes to alot more than 75,...
