As someone previously posted, we're not talking about couples 'living together', we're talking about a couple being on holiday.

With supermarkets and the like, very often they don't have small change so will round upwards.

Taxi drivers, upto you, they should always offer the change though, not automatically keep it.

When eating out, again upto you, but bear in mind most places automatically add 10% service charge.

It shouldn't happen, but many companies hold emloyees passports for 'Safe-keeping'. Go to your PRO and make them aware of when you need the passport by and see what their reaction is. A company cannot refuse to give you your passport back.
