There was a Gulf-News article about it a few months ago. They said that it is illegal, but all the govt. ministries still do it. Kind of ironic?!?! That's a bit crap considering even publishing houses retain passports! If you look in the front of your passport it clearly states that it is the prope...
Hardly anyone purchasing from Barracuda has a licence. We normally just bomb up Emirates road and follow the signs for the Aqua Park, takes you straight there. You only pass through the industrial side of Sharjah, not the main town centre - less hassle. I've never seen police pulling over westerners...
I also have to admit I've never heard of anyone being deported for having alcohol. Only those who're buying to sell on. Normally they just confiscate it and give you a fine or can insist on a short prison term. Again it's one of those things that's based on nationality, cirumstance etc etc. Anyway y...
I think there is a big difference between a company holding passports for 'safe-keeping' and withholding them. Many places will just give them back if asked.
Personally however, it's my persoanl property and I wouldn't like anyone else to have it.
I really dont see what the issue is here. My Liquor Licence cost 125 Dhs, and there are 6 outlets for me to buy in DXB. For the sake of 125Dhs, why would anyone want to travel a fair way and with some risk to get something i can get to in 10 mins ?? :? :? :? Because not all companies will allow the...
Have to agree with Alexandra, you cannot blame and entire nation for the actions of a few, just as we do not blame all muslims for a few suicide bombers. 49% did not vote for Bush - that's nearly half the population and probably more considering those who were not allowed to vote (as they would have...
That's the problem Corcs. I disagree with their policies, I think they play into the hands of those who would cause destruction by giving them an outlet to show their horrid videos of murder and massacre. I think they're thoroughly irresponsible and biased. Plus the fact that not one other news agen...
I also agree with Sahrewadi, after googling, yahooing and msning, the only story that has been thrown up is from 2003. Until another news wire picks it up, I'll treat their story as incitement.
But chick that's the problem. Many people cannot get a licence, so we have no choice.
Also Arnie, to prove your salary, do you not have to give a salary certificate, which has to be provided by your company, which you have to tell them why you want it etc etc etc.
Exactly! Your post got moved as we are against the sale and offer to obtain exotic animals. There's a big problem with this in the UAE and it needs to be stopped. Exotics should only be owned by professional handlers who know how to look after and care for them properly. Not Joe Bloggs on the street.
Actually I thought the coverage onm Sky was very good, and covered pretty much all sides. They had reporters based in both Lebanon and Israel and came live from both locations throughout the day with what was happening in each territory. They seemed to be making a conscious effort to keep and even o...
As has been said in another thread, how you expect 'some' americans to care what is going on in other parts of the world, when they don't even care about what's happening in their own back yard?
Well I'm entitled to my opinion and I thought it wasn't bad. At least they had reporters in both territories! Unlike many networks that just relied on what they were being fed.
And Fox and Sky are similar because dun dun dun Sky is owned by Rupert Murdoch! But it's not s biased as Fox.
First, Al Jazeera has NEVER showed beheadings on air. Al Jazeera is known for its impartiality and for their coverage of uncomfortable truths and news items that other networks don't dare touch. No, you can just download the whole gory things from their website. It's well known, where do you think ...
WRONG! Al Jazeera has not shown beheadings on their website either! While it's true that Al Jazeera has received in the past these types of videos, they don't air the full tapes. Al Qaeda have their own (temporary) websites in which the videos have been easily accessible to anyone. They still link ...
Great post Shaf. Sky have got some pretty ballsy reporters. And good to see them giving people a hard time. It can be very difficult for journalists to stick to a non-bias position, but sometimes a little sway one way of another can really up the anti on the people they're interviewing as they don't...
