I read about this case, very sad indeed. Just goes to show even the best laid plans can go wrong. A stark warning to people to make sure they have good enough insurance coverage for maternity and any complications that may arise.

Not necassarily, it is fiercely competitive and given the sort of jobs that they're looking for, I hate to say it but you're going up againt thousands of people from the subcontient who will work for a lot less money than someone from the UK would expect for the same job.

LOL I spend most of my time outside. Enjoying my one day off chilling and doing nothing, that's after I've walked the dog, gone for a run and done everything else I had to do this morning.

To be fair these women have done themselves proud. They didn't listen to those who tried to stop them, had to put up with twitter hashtags like 'olympicwhores' and abuse, but the went ahead and did it anyway. drewpeacock , Yes but remember many companies fiddle the basic salary, making it as low as possible and the rest of the salary being made up of allwances. This means they pay as little as possible in gratuity.

No, you have to take your passport, visa copy etc etc with you. It's for both post-paid and pre-paid from what I gather. But you have to wait for an sms from the company efore going, as they're doing it in batches.

Well unfortunately it's the banks decision at the end of the day and given that they offer no kind of insurance protection - which they should - they are going to be biased against industries that are deemed as risky. Sad though that is.

shafique , Yeah I know that. But when you're not used to it, having others in such close proximity can be a little off putting. Especially if, say you're in the queue at the supermarket, they're not going to get to the checkout any quicker.

Bascially you don't. The majority of families would not approve of Emirati girls being in a relationship with non-locals. There a remore liberal locals who do the whole going out thing, but they are few and far between.

It really doesn't matter what the 'law' says, the 'law' says passports are not allowed to be held, yet how many companies do that? Depends who owns the company. Some are a 'law' unto themselves.
