Well, yeah "Developing countries" sounds better ;) Choco, I disagree with you, if something happen in Dubai, we all will know about it. News spread here very quickly, even car accidents you hear off. what about a shooting or terrorist act. Dubai is still very samll "al least compared to where icame...

Do you ever see any cars stop at a pedestrian crossing in the UAE anyway? Unless they have traffic lights on it, people are just inconsiderate and won't stop - so forget it.

RAK and Abu Dhabi have both passed freehold laws, but Dubai is still sitting on it at the moment.

Hmmm so true. Plus I hate it when people stop on padestrian crossings. I normally walk and if they give me shit or start beeping I bump their bonnet and draw their attention to the zebra lines, at that point I normally get an apology.

Yeah I read this and was totally shocked!

It's sad to to see such terrible people giving a bad name to those others which are so desperately trying to help. There was absolutely no need for this what so ever.

The Dubai police announced a while ago, that they would start to jail red light jumpers for 30 days, but many thought this would be too harsh. It used to be 500Dhs fine and 5 points on your licence (for traffic violations they add points to your licence, if you rack up a certain amount, your licence...

Interestingly enough Sky News did an audience poll and more than 70% of viewers said the people involved should not be punished. The kids were throwing home made granades, stones and whatever else into the compound, but it still doesn't justify the actions of the soldiers. These were just just kids.

Look for driving 'lessons'! I don't have any info as I didn't learn to drive in Dubai, nor would I want to. There was a big thread on it, in the Dubai chat forum, check in there. Sunflower, go to search, type 'Driving' in the search key words option and loads of threads come up, I've just done it! A...

Have to agree with Kanelli, there's no way, can you imagine the devastation? Plus no-one would use nukes for something like this, it would be suicide - for everyone.

I think Emirates fly direct. Plus if you have to go to London first try something like Easy Jet to Glasgow will be much cheaper.

Well it's upto you. Pay more and just do the one flight, or mess around in London for hours connecting, I know which I'd rather do.

Well yes, plus if you're not sharing with people, you cannot get any utilities connected without a residence visa. You definately can't rent on your own without a visa. Can't get a bank account without one, so how can you write checks? etc etc

UK - Smokers days are numbered

I think this is great! I hope more countries follow this example pretty shortly. I'm telling ya, smokers will become a dying breed, quite literally - it's such a filthy habit! ----------------------------------------------- SMOKING is to be BANNED in pubs and clubs within 18 months after a vote by M...

Well I think you're lacking in open mindedness if you speak to someone like that for having an opinion that you don't like! It's not something you can really define as each person will set their boundaries at a different point and in different areas of their life. But to me being open minded is bein...

Well I always wondered about people who worked in clubs and bars who're non smokers being forced to passive smoke every day, DJs and bands too. Certainly I used to hate it. Look at entertainer and 'Record Breaker' host Roy Castle, he suffered lung cancer and put it down to years of playing the trump...

There was a really sad story in the UK last year about a 3 year old child, whose parents basically chain smoked around him all the time, he had asthma and breathing difficulties. When he was x-rayed doctors said he had the lungs of a 60 year old. very sad.
