Pathetic sentence for a brutal murder

And as predicted the assailant got off lightly! You don't kick someone repeatedly in the head unless you're intent on doing serious damage. This case is murder, plain and simple. Another example of why laws in the UAE are an absolute joke. http://www.7daysindubai.com/Esther-s-attacker-jailed-assault...

Re: Pathetic Sentence For A Brutal Murder

Frequentflier , They're trying to cut down on this sort of thing. You should have complained to the police about it. The joke is the guy was jailed for assault, which carries a light sentence. Had he been found guilty of manslaughter, which is what should have happened, the mandatory sentence is 10...

Emirati children say they feel neglected

This is quite sad and troubling to read. It seems parents are more preoccupied with their own lives than wanting to raise and interact with their children. Doesn't really bode well for future generations of the UAE.

Re: Why The Burka Should Be Banned

I don't think you have to ban full face coverings, BUT if they are required to be removed to confirm someone's identity, then people must comply and they should be given tough penalties if they do not. France recently refused to let 3 women in because they refused to remove their veils to confirm th...

Re: Degree Attestation, Re-attestation

Can you call the Ministry of Labour and ask? They're more likely to be able to answer your question. I would say at the very least it would require attesting by the UAE embassy.

Re: Pathetic Sentence For A Brutal Murder

As I said before if you kick someone in the head you intend to do damage. The attack was premeditated and should be at least manslaughter, which carries a tougher sentence. How is it NOT murder, he kicked her until she was unconscious, she died from her injuries. He killed her.

Re: Pathetic Sentence For A Brutal Murder

Sadly you don't see the big picture. They might have sentenced him to 4 years, but that chances of him doing anywhere near that are slim. He'll appeal etc. Prinson here is terrifying, certainly wouldn't wish it on anyone. Sure it's personal opinion, but sadly with many sentences here they definitely...

Re: Why The Burka Should Be Banned

To clarify, wear what they want within reason and within the local laws and customs - goes without saying really.

ETA: this thread wasn't talking about tourists and whatnot, it was regarding the burka.

Re: Carrefour Stupidity!!!

They clearly don't know what they're doing. What he probably meant was that for the iphone you need a mini-sim, which you can get from Etisalat, OR you just cut your current SIM down to size.

Re: Pathetic Sentence For A Brutal Murder

If it's a good thing that they can appeal, then I hope her family come back and appeal for a TOUGHER sentence - which is entirely possible! Also interesting to note, there is no mention about the payment of blood money in this case either. I can make such a bold statement because that's MY OPINION. ...

Re: Want To Resign, Employer Playing Dirty, Threatening Cour

He basically doesn't have a leg to stand on. None competitive clauses are usually in the Labour contract - mine were and he doesn't have much of a right to ask you to sign somehthing now. You need to go and speak to someone at the Ministry of Labour regarding this.

Re: Why Dont We All Post Here

Quite simply, the so-called 'New Member' was a spammer who was offering illegal services and also created multiple threads allover various sections. Now someone who offers illegal services, then puts their details for all to see on an open forum is clearly a 'dumbass' or do you think they're clever?...

Re: What Are The Types Of Bank Loans Available In UAE?

Basically you need to decide what kind of loan you want. The whichever bank will deal with will tell you what the criteria are. You are requireed to submit 3 months bank statements and a salary certificate from your company's finance department.

Not at all actually. As I have said earlier, really couldn't care less. Your little threads here have actually done a good job of pulling 'certain' people together.

It's actually nice to have you back, I really don't know why you were banned in the first place to be honest.

I'm also with HSBC. Their credit cards are linked to the blue airmiles card - not to be confused with an Emirates airmiles card. But I buy loads of things with the points I collect.

Re: Document Attestation

Yes they will have to be attested by the UAE embassy in the US. Here in the UAE there are many companies that do all this leg work for you. You give them the certificates, pay them, in a couple of weeks it's all done.

Have to say that's a really fantastic article, with very real issues. Are you applying locally in London to them? Or sending your applications here? Who knows why they reject some people time and time again, all you can do is keep applying, but you can only do so once every 6 months from what I gather.
