Re: Help! Possible VIsa Cancellation Payment

er ask the PRO of your company? They will tell you this. And yes, normally if you're leaving before your contracted period, many companies with expect you to refund them the cost of the visa and the cancellation fees, which could be around 4,000 Dhs.

Re: My Photography #2

There is nothing wrong with someone turning their hobby into a profession, if they're good at it, then why on earth not. I don't know many photographers these days, amatuers and pros who don't use computers to enhance their work. Think about the camera itself these days - are people using film? No t...

Re: My Photography #2

It means I studied it at university, I have a GCSE and part of my degree is in photography. These days the majority of media is digitally enhanced. Do you think what you see on the telly is shot on film? Nope, it's shot on digi-beta, edited and enhanced in computers. Even movies shot on traditional ...

Re: My Photography #2

I guarantee you every photo you see these days has been enhanced. I disagree that it's maufactured, all people are doing is taking a good image and making it better. Here's a great example, a friend of mine - professional photographer has this blog: http://www.clearandtransparent.com/blog/ Hover ove...

Re: My Photography #2

Yeah he's really great Nuc, and you see it's not huge changes, just slight colour, contrast, shadow and the odd focus alteration. Really good examples of how subtle techniques can enhance the images.

Re: My Photography #2

Mario45 , er no! It's a still image from a movie scene - it's the personality of the character she was portraying! You really don't get it, so I'll just bow out now and go bang my head on a wall.

Re: My Photography #2

Nucleus , It's a still from the film 'The Seven Year Itch' - do a search on google images for MM and virtually every single one has been airbrushed! If Mario thinks 'original' photographers didn't use tricks, he's incorrect. Soft lighting, soft focus, gobos, coloured filters over lights and lenses ...

Re: My Photography #2

Mario45 , This is where you are sorely mistaken! It is not 'how' and image is taken or created, it is the 'content' of that image that makes the lasting impression and that comes from the creativity of the person who created it - something which you clearly fail to grasp. Do you think it was the pe...

Re: Summer Internship Needed For Journalism Major

There are no paid internships, as then you'd technically be working, which you can't do without a labour card and for that a company has to apply for it. Apply to some of the papers.

Re: Short Term Job In Dubai? (any Position)

What do you mean 'short term job'? For you to work here, a company has to sponsor you, apply for a labour card, provide health insurane etc etc and this all costs money. They're not going to do that for somneone who isn't here long term. Plus the kinds of jobs your looking at pay peanuts.

Re: Need Help Urgent

Many visas have designations that have nothing to do with the role you actually have. You can leave company B as I assume you're in the probation period - however, as they have now issued the visa, it is likely they will make you pay all the visa costs and cancellation costs, as you've basically was...

Re: Luke I Am Your Farther!

To be honest it looks totally set up. Why on earth would you film your children watching a movie anyway? The boy even looks at the camera right before he pulls the 'face' - total overreaction and judging by his age it's unlikely he would understand the whole implications anyway.

Re: Biggest "Pains" When Living In Dubai

Nope, the humidity is the real killer in the summer months, it's like walking outside into a sauna. Get used to the term 'Inshallah' and don't expect things to always happen easily as they just don't. Actually the liquor license isn't as easy as that, as you need your visa and your company has to si...

Re: Best Brunch - Outside Seating

Try somewhere like Al Qasar, it's really nice. Be aware that these things are pretty pricey now and expect to pay about 500 Dhs per head. Also bear in mind that the majority of these things have free-flowing alcohol and the aim for many is to literally see how drunk they can get in 4 hours flat. Hav...
