In the Medical field Arabic is probably helpful if your going to be dealing with Arab patients, but i dont see it as essential as in the fields that Bobbie mentioned although not ESSENTIAL (which i didn't...

AUS apparently has a kick ASS fine-arts course- you can get your BA in painting, printing or sculpture - something very hard to find in the gulf. AUS does seem to have higher standards. if you'd like i'll give you my highschool arabic teachers number- Mozna is amazing and such a funny wee thing. She's originally palestinian but grew up in Egypt- very familiar with 'proper' arabic as well as the local slang.

let me know if you're interested- she'll be back from her vacation soon :)

sly, i'm pretty sure you can just go to the police, tell them that you've been taking lessons from a private teacher, then take your test? may have to sit through a lecture, eye test and stuff, then the roads. give it a try, good luck :)

PS. don't go to belhasa for any reason- they're a rip off.
