Re: Briton held for wearing a bikini in Dubai shopping mall

Smoke in no smoking areas, break queues, park in handicapped spots, every group has members who do it. But members of only 1 or 2 groups shout or confront when their mistakes are pointed out, respect goes down the drain then..... I was pushed from a queue with the guy saying "yallah, move"...

People dont get offended in KL any faster than they get offended in Dubai....

Nor are KL'ers "quick to judge" when you compare them to Dubaians.

KL is definitely more relaxed than Dubai....

Singapore is just trying to play a catch up game..Dubai borrowed the SG model and went a few steps further and perfected it (well atleast till 2008).. Haha, perfected it? Re: Cut Salik and speed cameras

I actually agree that speed cameras are excessive in number... And if speed cameras are essential, then speed limits should be revised. the current limits are absolutely ridiculous; 80 km in a 5 lane road.....(DOHA road) 100 km in a 6 lane motorway (Business Bay) Lets go to Abu Dhabi 60 km limit in ...

I agree speed cameras are a necessary evil. But are the limits ok?

Does it make sense to have a 100 kph limit on a well paved freeway with 5 lanes ?

Great. Lets have a limit of 80 on Shaikh Zayed Road, a limit of 40 on Jumeirah, and 60 km on Al Khail, that should make the Sunny drivers happy, "waaii isshppeed, yit yis danzerhous"

Thanks
DDS,
Is there any major difference between the various "clusters" in DG, Mediterranean, Mogul etc. or are they all the same?

I saw some great deals at IMPZ and Khail Gate; 41k for 2 spacious bedroom apts, but they are right off Emirates road so the drive to AUH may not be that nice

Re: Renting in Dubai - Advice needed !

Thanks everyone for your advice

I have chosen JLT as the loop is not so bad if you live in the side facing Emirates hill, like at the concorde or bonnington side.

Also Marina is 5 minutes away...

Tecom offered the best deal for money, but the area is extremely depressing at night....
