Re: Dxb or AD ??

Abu Dhabi seemed heaven compared to Dubai from 2004-2006.

But then housing went through the roof, parking availability is probably the worst in any developed metro in the world, and its too crowded.

AUH learned from some of Dubai's mistakes, not all of them.

Re: Is local sponsorship abuse?

I can see how the removal of the "sole trader/agent" can ruffle up some feathers. It would mean for example anybody could open a Toyota Lexus dealership. Currently they are making a killing by selling cars much more expensive than in many other countries of the world and charging more tha...

Re: Sharjah police conduct door to door hunt for unwed coupl

64% of the population of Dubai is Hindi. Technically that makes the predominant religion in the country Hindu, however the mosques outnumber the temples 100 - 1. Wrong, wrong, wrong ! 64% of Dubai may be Indians, half of whom are Muslim Indians and not Hindus. The proportion of Indians in AUH is al...

Re: Sharjah police conduct door to door hunt for unwed coupl

There are no official figures to back that up. What about the Mahratti's, and the Christian Keralites? 80% of the Indian workers here are NOT Musilm. The figure is probably nearer 20%. What about the Philippino work force? However you look at it, Islam is actually one of the minority religions in t...

Re: Sharjah police conduct door to door hunt for unwed coupl

Also refraining from eating drinking and smoking in public is merely a matter of respect,. As a Muslim, I want non-Muslims to respect Ramadan, but I dont think any respect is gained by forcing them to not eat? Are we Muslims kids who will be tenmpted by food? In a public bus last Ramadan, a parent ...

Re: Utterly Pathetic Sentence For Taking A Life

Cohabiting without marriage, flipping the finger, swearing are all seen as worse offences than killing someone through recklessness. Now its all good to show pity, so shouldnt pity also have been shown to the kissing couple or that Aussie nurse deported for flipping the finger? Are only people who k...

This bit wasnt there in 7days. So in effect these people race to earn pocket money (some of which no doubt goes to customized numer plates!) "Drag racing is popular among Emirati young people in the Khawaneej area, according to residents. Mohammed Abdullah, a farmer, said: “Everyone knows someo...

Re: Visa Rules Tightened Over Expulsion Of Ruling Family Mem

The Kenyan forces acted like idiots, the family members were on holidays and nothing more.

The Gaddafi case was different; he Libyans believe Gaddafi's son has the right to commit crimes anywhere he wants, and they threw a tantrum because the Swiss thought otherwise.

Um everyone gets finger printed for the security check for their residence visa! The worst thing IMo is that there are people in the UAE who think and write like this: http://www.al-emerati.com/2010/05/rip-plane-victims.html This plane, carrying Indians who live and work here, means that 160 indians that clog up the roads, cause accidents, fail code inspections at Indian restaur...

[i][color=#0000FF]T These people believe that some foreigners are motivated to marry Emirati women by greed. Where were all these men before the oil boom, when Emiratis were not rich, they ask. Re: New speed limit on SZR?

Well some of the speed limits are riculously low if you look at the actual limits and not the radar limits. Liek the one on Doha street (raised street near Dubai mall). A 5 lane road which barely sees 1/10th the traffic on Shaikh Zayed road has a 80 kph limit. Similarly 100 is a low limit for the Du...

Not just because you got it, it's OK to do anything with it. Legally, yes, you can spend it anyway you want, but morally, it is not right to spend millions foolishly on something as petty as a mere piece of metal (a stupid license plate) when, instead, those millions could be spent to help the poor...
