Re: Dubai Has Always Been Bankrupt -- Morally and Environmentall

Every city has problems, Dubai is a bit different in that: 1) Its worshippers refuse to acknowledge any problem whatsoever that Dubai may have... 2) Anytime a valid point against Dubai is raised, people bypass it and try to defame the person bringing up the point 3) People act as sycophants even tho...

Re: More Good news from Dubai World ...

There are actually a series of defences that Dubai lovers use.... 1) The news is a lie 2) When you prove it isnt, they try to attack the messenger. "Ooooh, this journalist told a lie in 1977, that means he cannot be trusted" 3) Otherwise, they try to find 1 small mistake in the entire arti...

Re: TWO things not to do on SZR when it's raining...

I am always intrigued as to why so many people here have so little common sense. And no, its not just about education. Seemingly well-educated people also drive like idiots in the rain, noticed one guy doing 60 kph on the Abu Dhabi highway on the 3rd lane without headlights on in heavy rain. His car...

Re: TWO things not to do on SZR when it's raining...

Uaekid, on the contrary, some of the most stupid things I have seen on Dubai roads have been done by presumably people who learned their driving here.... Like the Maxima who switched from 4th to 2nd lane at a speed of 160 kph in rain....because he was about to miss an exit...getting almost 6 inches ...

Re: the times withdraw and Dubai world.... VOL 2

Its good news, however what i dont get is why newspapers are screaming that this move shows Dubai is unparalled as a successful financial center, and that Abu Dhabi's assistance proves Dubai is the best place in the world to do business....
I mean how does getting 10$ b in assistance prove all that ?

Re: Dubai Transparency Pledge in Accepting Global Standards

The DB brigade is just the other side of the coin to the Dubai cheerleading brigade. The former bashes Dubai no matter what, and takes delight in saying that Dubai will become a ghost town even though probably 1% of Dubai's workforce got laid off. He repeats the "3000000 cars abandoned in the a...

It would seem that some people are never satisfied, it must be real bad news indeed for them when they can see Dubai trying to do it better and worst of all for the DB Brigade, it is working. the guys at DF are a piece of work really !! they excused the ppl with bank debts who left the country not ...

Re: WTF !

Another topic, but I too said WTF when I read it. How on earth does killing someone fetch 1 year jail only? The fight started because the victim didnt give the killers groceries for free, now that sounds familiar, wanting things for free without working.... But seriously 1 year only? When bouncing a...

2 days, 2 stabbing crimes . Dont know what is going on...1 common theme though between the 2 crimes, on top of the fact that both were knife crimes.... Also its a nice warm climate. i dont see Dubai failing as well, as there is nothing as good as it within a 5 hours flight... Re: What happened to facebook in UAE? :'(

I use FB occasionally, but dont get those who think its useless just because they dont use it...... Its a very convenient way of sharing pics, keeping in touch with friends etc. Now obviously many those who are 40+ may think its useless as they find it difficutl to navigate etc., so fine, dont use it!

Sacking Hughes wasnt the wrong decision, it was the timing that was screwed up....

If they gave him a target at the start of the season, then its crass to suddenly fire him and say we changed our targets midway through the season

Re: Driving in UAE is not bad compared to this :D

As I have said a hundred time, if you make your benchmark of driving to be Cairo, Tehran, Mumbai or the Bolivian mountains, then yes, Dubai will seem safe.

However, Dubai's driving is defintely worse off than most Western European cities, and most parts of USA/Canada

Re: Adding service charge to bills illegal

I always tip for good servie regardless of service charge; and yes, the service charge generally goes to management, or is shared b/w management and waiters... Of course they justify it by saying "what use is tips to a waiter if the restaurant closes down due to less proft, so its better to dir...

Re: Olympic Style Drug Testing in Pacquiao Vs. Mayweather Fight

I didnt quite get the hysterical reactions from the Pacman camps when the drugs test was suggested.... Did they want to conduct it for him only, which would be a a valid reason to refuse. Re: British man executed in China

Re: British man executed in China

to control crime you got to have capital punishments and strict laws. ok lets say this guy got 10 years in prison, who knows he might have turned a leaf but who knows he would have been the same guy 10 years before and once he is out he will end up supplying drugs to other people. so its good they ...
