Re: Escape From Dubai-by Herve

Herve, I am continuing with your book. I am taking it easy and now up to Chapter 6 where you start to plan your escape. My heart is in my mouth! I have noticed a deteriation in your mood as the book progresses. From being romantic and humerous you are now deadly serious when plotting the escape. At ...

Re: Escape From Dubai-by Herve

The point is that arabs need to learn to employ better contract negotiators. loooooooooool and those would be westerners would they? My understanding was the law firm that had 29 lawyers based at Dubai World failed to see it coming, and said law firm was British. Priceless. Perhaps Arabs should sto...

Grunts? weren't you married to one? benwj that is a very uncharitable name for soldiers. Yes I have said on this forum before that I was married to a British soldier. Re: Who do you bank with?

DD is right - islamic banks for sharia reasons can't charge interest and therefore call it "profit" but its essentially the same apart from the fact that it allows them to charge the customer more due to the uncertain nature of the "profit" rate. Mortgages by islamic lenders are...

I'm jealous DD, I had to remove 10cm of snow from my car this morning but I do have a cold bottle of Chardonnay which I will drink before a roaring fire. I'd remove 10 cm of snow from the car in my skivvies and STILL take a dip in the pool. Even if it was frozen. Now I bet that's a sight to behold.

Re: Wearing a dishdasha

You can wear a dishdash without the headgear. I have an Emirati friend who, occasionally does not wear his headgear. Early morning, for instance . In my opinion, if you are not local, you look incredibly daft wearing a dishdash. I don't think you will be taken seriously, working in an office envirom...

Re: Wearing a dishdasha

I have to say I prefer the proper head dress and not a baseball cap. It just looks so odd, a baseball cap and a dress! Whatever! My local friend never wears a baseball cap, he is very traditional. In the early mornings he usually abandons any kind of headgear.
