Re: Airline prices

Seriously, what's up with airline pricing at the moment?! Everything flying from the UAE to Oz, you practically need to take out a loan to pay for the ticket. I thought prices were coming down. Is there any particular reason they're so expensive and during off-peak periods as well. I thought you go...

Yes she was also born in the 7th hour, of the 7th month, Becks player number is 7 and 7 is lucky - so makes perfect sense. You just said that in a previous post, I think we heard the first time. Yes, I realise the significence of the number 7, as believe it or not, I'm not thick. Having said that i...

Re: The Euro Millions.

No, but BM constantly refers pretty much everything to the UK, which has zero to do with here. Plus she constantly blows hot air about her - not so interesting - daily life. The reason why? She doesn't live here, so has virtually zero to talk about when it comes to the UAE. -- Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:02...

Re: The Euro Millions.

The jackpot is up to £166m I believe. You'd be able to buy the Palm with that little lot. If there is anybody on DF who would like me to buy them a ticket, just let me know. I can't promise I'd part with your winnings, but the thought is there.

Re: Airline prices

er staff rules change all the time. You can't use staff tickets on sellout routes, or peak periods. I don't know yet if I can use my staff ticket when I want to fly as it's a bit early, but as of this time there are no staff seats being released. Plus it's always a risk as they're not normally firm...

Re: Where Do The World's Most Stressed Women Live?

Pakistan...I say high stress. As pointed out by BM India is #1... I believe it was Bora that pointed that out Ambassador. Dealing with children is the most stressful part of a woman's life, I believe, and that's why I advise all those who are childless, to give it a miss and just invest in a top of...

Re: Will another country ban the burqa???

LOL they'll only take the 'word' of locals it seems. Use of CCTV? Oh so I can think of at least three cases where the judges refused to view the CCTV, because it would have convicted the accused. Typical double standards again. If only it were that simple Chocs. There happens to be more than just w...

No BM< the cases I am referring to, which you wouldn't know about, as you don't live here! The judge flat out refused to watch it or even have the footage admitted as evidence. Innocent until proven guilty - sorry it's the other way round here, you're guilty until proven innocent, but again you wou...

How can you compare the price of caviar to Marmite??? I love my caviar - an acquired taste!!! and it must be Iranian!!! Re: The Euro Millions.

Well 2.5% of anything is better than nothing! I purchased two lucky dips tonight, but I don't feel any richer so I'm not holding out any hope. I may be luckier with the office bonus ball roll over which is up to £103. I have a one in twenty chance of winning that. I can't work out the odds for that....

Re: New Trend??

I'm always amazed to see young kids running around late in Dubai. How do they get up for school in the morning? I always made it a rule that my kids be in bed by 6.30pm when they were little and later as they grew up. Parents should allow themselves grown up time. My mother always said 'kids should ...

Re: Canadian public school turned into house of worship?

What world does Shafique live in where girls sit out of PE lessons during their periods?
Strangely enough girls and women can function quite normally during their periods, it is not an illness.

Thank God most of us have moved into the 21st centuary.

Re: Canadian Public School Turned Into House Of Worship?

^BM - so you'd not allow girls to sit out PE lessons if they have their period? Perhaps the schools my eldest daughter attended in the UK, Dubai and here in Mauritius are unusually lenient?? Do you think they are singling out 'shy girls' and should insist they should all take part in PE?? Cheers, S...

Re: Speedy wins

That's a refreshing change general! Before I had my place in JBR I often stayed at the Al Qasr and the Mina Al Salam hotels. There is a little turtle sanctury (ot there used to be) at Al Qasr. You can walk on a platform over where the injured turtles are being rehabilitated before their release back...

Yes general, there is no way turtles should be kept in an unnatural habitat. It was fasinating to read the brief history of the turtles in Al Qasr and how they were tagged and monitored on their release. I don't know whether that project was paid for by Jumeirah International or that they just provi...
