Thanks Concord. I had a search in the other forums but can't quite get a handle on where are some of the preferred residential locations. Also I was hoping to get an on-the-ground view from those of you living there. Appreciate any further comments or advice. Re number of bedrooms, I guess all I nee...

new car recommendations

Greetings... I am considering a long term lease for a new car in Dubai and I have a budget of AED3,000/mth. Can someone give me some indications as to what I can afford (assuming a 24-36 month lease with no upfront payment). I am interested in either a 4WD or sports coupe. Would my budget allow me t...

The office is in Emirates Tower so prefer some place not too far from there. I have been to and quite like the Marina area, just wondering if there are other locations similar to that.

So would I be able to get something decent in Marina preferrably furnished?

Thanks

So how much is the Honda Accord? Around Dhs100,000?
The Dhs2550/mth is based on this price and how much upfront payments?

Is there a site where I can easily work out the monthly lease payments from hire purchases of different cars?

Thanks again

Living with girlfriend

I am scheduled to be in Dubai early next year and I plan to ask my girlfriend to come as well. I know that it is illegal for an unmarried couple to be living together, however are there any arrangements that would overcome this law, eg subleasing a room to her? Or am I over-worried with this regulat...

I can appreciate that it is a debatbale topic. As unreasonable as it seems, I still prefer to comply with the regulations, but the way of which the law is enforced appears to be unclear. For example, how do they define "living"? If a female friend visits me at my apartment and there is no ...

how is "co-habitation" defined? does sharing a flat by a guy and a girl fall under this definition? with the amount of prostitution that's going on in dubai, wouldn't / shouldn't the government be more focused on tackling that rather than cracking down on decent "non-married" cou...

then what about if the girlfriend has her own place, but she hangs around the boyfriend's place quite often, is it illegal for a male and female to be alone in an apartment or house even though they are not co-habitating?

mutual funds are the best way to go and you are at the right time to start a monthly savings plan. since you are still young you can select one of the more aggressive funds for long term hold. remember this is for long term investment and not for short term trading... just be persistent and watch yo...

It would be silly not to consider investments in Dubai given that it's one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Just like China and India this place will present lots of interesting investment opportunities and one would do well if the investments are managed well and over a medium to long...

7% and 13% is meaningless if you dont have your currency hedged... i bet your home country is not US nor UK so the net effect would not be so attractive. I know for example south africa pays great interest but who wants to invest there?

Appreciate that analysis on rental yield, but you haven't taken into account the uplift from leverage, if you can access debt at say 6% and you are getting a yield of 8+% from rental, then your equity return is boosted by the spread thus could potentially reach 12+% (depending on the gearing of coz)...

it's not a financial jargon but simple math... gearing applies (and add value) to any investments regardless of the tax regime, you were thinking of "negative gearing" which obviously doesn't apply here as you cannot get a tax deduction. the fact remains that most people evaluate property ...

the processing time of the residence visa really depends on your company's organizational structure... mine took over 2 months whilst I have a friend who got his in 8 days as he was based in the freezone.

a consistent feature of dubai is the lack of consistency and standardization...
