Men and women meeting platonically in a car is a basic part of life, law or not. it's a basic part of life in the west, muslims have a very different culture Unfortunately such cries from the 'west' will just make the Saudis solidify their stance, in an effort to protect their 'values'. Why does th...

Firstly I said that, not gtmash... please learn to quote properly. With respect to what happened with freedom and tolerance.. that's a great question. You answer first. I was just editing but you caught me. Anyway I never advocated such concepts, the west does So you don't believe in freedom or tol...

There's a group on Facebook almost ritually dedicated to this road.

I have heard the cameras will snap you at anything over 159 (so 160) but people in this group are now reporting snappings at 140 and in some cases 130. The cameras on the Dubai side will get you at 140.

So my question remains. why does the west want to enforce its ideologies among others, doesn't that contradict with the ideology itself of freedom and tolerance that they keep preaching all the time ? Why does Saudi persist with rules that have nothing to do with Islam? i.e. why does it prohibit wo...

I have noticed lots of flies too, but really no more than last year.

The worst was when I lived in Al Barsha and there was one of those big bins across the road. In the middle of summer it used to cook in the heat and was like... Dubai's biggest fly magnet.

That was bad.

Be careful, sometimes they can flatout refuse your visa during a visa run if they see you're making a habit out of it.

The biggest problem with Du is that the TRA has set it so that Etisalat and Du do not actually compete on price for local calls. i.e. one cannot undercut the other. So basically you have a new phone company that has no advantage: (1) Their network is poorer with less coverage. (2) Their billing syst...

One man's bacteria is another man's protein. Smoke while eating, if you have a couple of shisha's going the whole time you smoke the flies usually stay at bay just exhale towards the food, if you're not a smoker coffee grinds on burning tea lights do the trick as well. I wrote up about flies last y...

Well, it's pathetic too.

Just because you kind find a worse situation, doesn't make the previous situation any better.

It's an interesting question.

Apparently it's a drug which may vaccinate against HPV, which is apparently present in 30 to 60% of women and the highest cause of Cancer of the Cervix.

If the drug works with little side effects, more people should know about it.

I've been seeing people pulled over on SZR for years now by marked cop cars. The unmarked car you saw, it could be a real cop car, or it could be a kid with flashers in the headlights (as I sort of know someone who did that to his Camry. Cheap mod). The one's is saw where marked hence I used the te...

I think it's a great effort, so long as when the charity gets to its destination it is put into place in a proper and transparent fashion.
