Just want to share these words.

I saw them today in a book here in our office..

hope it can help you guys who doesnt know arabic. Everyday, i hear these simple words from my bosses.

Enough – Bas
Finished – Khalass

Hurry – Yalla besora
Go away – Rooh

Good – Zain
Bad – Muzain

God Willing – Insha Allah
Wait a moment – Stanna Shwaya
Let’s go/come on – Yallah

Hotel – Funduk

How much is this – Bekam

While in Taxi

Straight On – Seeda
Slow Down – Shwai Shwai
Left – Yasaar
Right – Yameen

just the greetings ...i hear them everyday here in the office ...my boss are arabs so ..sometimes i pick up from their daily conversation...

its hard to learn the language..there should be someone who's really willing to teach you...and translate each word and talk to you in Arabic..

If I get any other inputs ...I'll try to post them..

Those are words i am using every time there are arguments at work. My favorite - BAS & KHALAS - and the guys at work will keep quiet.

your arabic is slightly different from other parts of the arab country.

Example:

How much is this? I can say - KAM HADA?

I prefer lebanese arabic, or syrian arabic is i think more refine.

so you like the shami dialect then....

Saar = price
The sentence is not complete so you can say ( bkam el saar) what is the price.

kam hada = how much is this

hada = this

bekam = how much

or you can say ib-ash-qad

some locals say kaam esaar, kaam sa'arha, or ib kam


and i think smart d was speakin iraqi dialect...

This was so kewl, proves how difficult it is for a newb to try and pick up the language, 18 ways to say everything.

That why classic Arabic is the way to learn, then you can pick up dialect later. Some Arabic dialects do not even use the correct Arabic grammar so the sentence will not make sense in other countries.

True there are also big differences between moroccan language algerian and tunisian...

That why I was asking bushra, because the way you said it. What price!! Which is not correct es just added for al saaar al=the but some letters in Arabic like s= seen the L will not be read so instead of saying al saar you say esaar, like bushra said ignoring L when read but you have to write it.

i was giving other examples of how people would say that here.

fayz is right, there are many people here that would say kam saar. doesn't make it grammatically correct, but thats how many speak here regardless.

also, yes, you're right about the el part i forgot to add....its kind of harder for me to write in arabic but still in english.
