What are Dubai Free Zone Employers ? PLEASE READ AND ANSWER Sep 03, 2012
Hi,

I am an employee in the company "M.H.Alshaya Co. L.L.C. Group" and I work in Debenhams in Abu Dhabi since the August 2012. I am not that happy about working in this company and I am looking to move to the banking or customer service field.

I was told that I cannot move out from this company since I am under a 2 year contract and if I attempt to move that I would be deported with a 6 month work ban on my passport in Dubai .

But also many sources said that if I were to move to a "free zone" employer I would not have such a work ban and neither would I have to pay any expenses that the company had incurred during the process of recruiting me.

NOTE: I didn't come to Dubai and find a job, I got to Dubai through an Agency in my country, the company even provided the air ticket to get to Dubai

What I need to know
--------------------------------------

1) Who are the best free zone employers you recommend?

2) Is it possible for me to move from M.H.Alshaya Co. L.L.C. to a free zone employer without any work ban or penalty or other issues ?

3) What is the safest procedure I need to follow?

I would be grateful if someone could clarify the above mentioned points and any other information that would be useful for me. I was told that my work location is Dubai and now I have been transferred to Abu Dhabi already and I do not like working here but I can't help my self either.

Please provide any information which you are sure of because I do not want to get into any trouble following the incorrect procedure :)

Thank you so much in advance

How long have you been working under this company, If you have completed your one year, then you will be banned. Even if you are banned, the ban can be lifted by paying the fees which is AED 5000. If you have completed your one year in that company you just need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and can switch to another company once you have found a job. Cancel from previous company and get the visa of new company but there is a catch, for visa transfer you must exit once. So if you are kind of home sick this could be a chance to say hi to mom & dad or may be your wife.

Best of Luck
