Obama is taking a strong stand on Israel and isn't backing down. He addressed the American Israel Public Affairs Committe. He's saying in public what has been said since Clinton held office but it was said behind closed doors. Clearing taking it back to 1967 is the starting point for negotiations (bartering as we know it ), but giving Israel some land, but not all the land that they want.

Possibly will lose the vote in 2012 but hopefully will start something that will go forward after he leaves the white house, should that happen, or will continue should he be re-elected. It amazing the influence Jews have in the US by Jews that have never been to Israel, or Jews that visit Israel. I remember a Jewish family that returned to the US because they didn't want their sons to go into the military - which is mandatory that male sons must serve. So much for serving your country!!!

Gotta give it to him for having the b@lls to stand in front of AIPAC and say that and not back down. Maybe he's thinking that can still manage it without the Jewish or the Israel supporters vote. The two are not one of the same. Like the CUFI or Christians United for Israel.

But I know a lot of Americans are not happy that they dish out billions of dollars worth of aid and Israel still shows them the finger, also guessing Israels last snub when the US offered 3 billion worth of F35's just to stop building settlements for 90 days so that talsk could carry on didn't go down well with Obama or rest of America aswell.

Credit where credit is due - Obama is sticking to the logical course.

He is, stating the obvious though - as he himself pointed out:

"Let me reaffirm what '1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps' means," he said.

"By definition, it means that the parties themselves - Israelis and Palestinians - will negotiate a border that is different than the one that existed on June 4, 1967.

Israel occupied the West Bank in the war which began on that date.

Mr Obama said he was only stating publicly what had long been acknowledged privately: "If there's a controversy, then, it's not based in substance."
