Emphasis on WAS.
A week or less ago, we learned of a White man who drove all the way from California to blow up America's largest Mosque in Michigan with a trunk full of highly lethal explosives (actually, they were fireworks - M-80s, but this was left out and the official line was that he planned to completely level the mosque with his car bomb).
We learned that he was inspired by the Glenn Becks, the Robert Spencers and the Sara Palins. He hated all Muslims and was an Islamophobe/ racist intent on killing every forugnarr with brown skin and a funny accent,... at least if they prostrated to Mecca.
We NOW learn that our White terrorist is a Muslim convert (though perhaps not fully observant). A Sunni convert, no less.
We NOW learn that our once cold and calculating terrorist is nothing more than a numpty, driven by mental illness, not ideology he picked up from some blog.
We NOW learn that our terrorist is fluent in Arabic. We NOW learn that our Sunni convert's target was a Shia Mosque - the largest in the United States.
We NOW learn that our convert rejected his court appointed attorney because of his Shia religious beliefs.
We NOW learn that it would be Islamophobic to blame anyone but the alleged bomber for his actions.
Doesn't it seem like that what we NOW learn tends to get more confusing by the day?
Haidar could not immediately be reached for comment, but credible court sources said Stockham spoke fluent Arabic during their interview and quoted Qur’anic verses.
