Loon-in-chief Bob Spencer, of JihadWatch, is not a happy chappy. It is funny to see SpencerWatch.com hat tip Jihadwatch - but then again, loonville is a funny place.

Robert Spencer is indeed a strange breed. He has curiously thin skin for someone who is a career bigot and hatemonger. He freely throws punches (that mostly miss) but cries to the heavens when any are thrown back (maybe because they usually land).

I mean if you are going to put yourself out there as a bigot, you may not want to cry yourself to sleep every time someone calls you out as one.

Grow some gonads.

Robert Spencer, the “scholar” makes a living painting Muslims as murderers, terrorists, misogynists, liars, hypocrites, thugs, and bloodthirsty savages.

But then when the Washington Post’s Michelle Boorstein correctly characterized him as anti-Muslim, he throws a hissy fit, arguing that she “smeared” and “maligned” poor little Spencer, and even put his life in danger.

You could not make this stuff up. The man is plain bonkers. (Spencer’s tearjerker of a schoolboy letter to Boorstein is a riot to read and is a must see for every Silly-Spencer lover. [eh, I think he's referring to you ])

Now, his feelings are hurt again.

This time the ego-bruised Mr. Spencer goes after the Chicago Tribune’s Manya Brachear, one of the few objective religion reporters left in the newsroom business. Spencer is reeling from Tribune religion blog contributor Ahmed Rehab outing him as:

“a long-time anti-Muslim goon from the annals of the hate blogosphere.”

Sounds like an apt characterization of Spencer all right.

Browsing Spencerwatch.com, you will find plenty of evidence that corroborate this description of Robert Spencer.

Browse Spencer’s very own Jihadwatch.com and you will find it bursting with a thousand more examples of Spencer’s anti-Muslim loonieness, personal megalomania, and general creepiness.

And yet Spencer apparently is soft in the center and needs to shed a tear for his hurt feelings when people call him “mean things.”

But here’s the best part:

Spencer has the wool pulled so deeply over his eyes that he utters the name of “David Duke” to describe someone who criticizes him, apparently while completely oblivious to the irony of the analogy: Spencer’s rabid Islamophobia being an identical counterpart to David Duke’s brand of anti-Semitism.

Perhaps the “scholar” Mr. Spencer, can heal the pain inflicted upon him by truth tellers Ms. Brachear and Mr. Rehab by singing himself a soft lullaby filled with his heartwarming bigoted and hateful rants against Muslims.

For those who have not been following along, Ahmed Rehab is a CAIR official who managed to suppress freedom of speech by getting the ALA to rescind their invitation for Spencer to appear in a debate on matters pertaining to Islam.

Rehab then gloated over this fact with his elite Western liberal chums on Huffpost. Spencer has offered to debate Rehab several times (along with other CAIR officials, including one the other day who canceled his appearance after he learned he would be debating Spencer) but Rehab is too scared to appear with Spencer in any discussion forum.

But, of course, our fearless Ahmed Rehab is never afraid to go into a Keefe Olbermann style rant. As long as big, bad Spencer can't respond.

In "The Islam-Basher and the Librarian Kerkuffle" at the Huffington Post, July 14, Ahmed Rehab of Hamas-linked CAIR-Chicago, who just succeeded in strong-arming the American Library Association into canceling a panel on which I had been scheduled to appear, crows about his campaign against free speech and the truth about Islamic jihad.

However, he left a few things out. No problem, Ahmed. I'm here to help, and always glad to be of service. Here is what Ahmed Rehab left out as he told his side of the story:

1. Informed sources have revealed to me that Ahmed Rehab of CAIR was invited by Myra Appel of the American Library Association to join this panel with me. Rehab refused. Instead of seizing the opportunity to show me up, prove me wrong, and thus severely damage, if not destroy, my reputation, Ahmed Rehab took the coward's and thug's way out, pressuring the other panelists to drop off the panel, and the ALA to cancel the whole thing.

Can't handle the truth, eh, Ahmed? But no worries: I am right here, at director@jihadwatch.org, and ready to meet you in debate anytime, anywhere, at my own expense. If I am so clearly and obviously wrong about jihad and Islamic supremacism, it ought to be easy for you to best me, no? If you can manage to stop cowering under the bed long enough, poor lamb!

2. Rehab quotes copiously from my bio information here, but he left out this:

Spencer...has led seminars on Islam and jihad for the United States Central Command, United States Army Command and General Staff College, the U.S. Army's Asymmetric Warfare Group, the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the U.S. intelligence community. [...]

In addition to the seminars on Islam and jihad that Spencer has led for the United States Central Command, United States Army Command and General Staff College, a Department of Homeland Security task force, the FBI, branches of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the U.S. intelligence community, he has discussed jihad, Islam, and terrorism at a workshop sponsored by the U.S. State Department and the German Foreign Ministry.

Why do you think he left all that out? Could it be that he doesn't want HuffPo readers and the ALA to know that I am not the ignorant bigot and racist of his defamatory caricature?

3. Rehab also left out a few facts about his employer. CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case. Its operatives have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several of its former officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. Several of its other officials have made Islamic supremacist statements. CAIR also was involved in the Flying Imams' intimidation suit against the passengers who reported their suspicious behavior.

Hmmm. Now why wouldn't he want anyone to know about his organization's proud track record?

UPDATE: Rehab has completely reworked his HuffPo piece, larding it with photos of me (wearing a shirt!) and largely unsupported (surprise!) claims about my work. But no admission that he was invited onto the panel and didn't have the guts to appear, and no acceptance of my challenge to debate here. How about it, Ahmed? What is it that you don't want the American people to know?

And in a fine distillation of the essence of the man's character, he adds in this preposterous ex post facto prophecy: "I would not be surprised if he were to read this piece only to respond with a juvenile personal attack against me on his hate blog." This was not in his original article, and clearly he had already seen this post when he wrote it. Mr. Rehab, are you even capable of being honest?

It's clear that you should go into "Rehab".

Spencer isn't happy is he - neither is is follower, young eh.

Isn't it funny that the long response doesn't actually address any of the points about Spencer but rather are another loon attack against the messenger.

But that is Spencer all over - all mouth, no trousers (but he does wear a shirt!)
(and let's not forget that Spencer is still in hiding after Danios called his bluff and said he would indeed debate with him!)

But, let's see why there is a need for SpencerWatch.com:

Why SpencerWatch.com?

Because Robert Spencer is a fraudulent individual who claims to be a ”scholar” and “expert” on Islam and Muslims, when in fact he is an anti-Muslim polemicist and activist who seeks to foment hate and distrust of all Muslims, especially those living in the West.

Because Robert Spencer employs a number of deceptive arguments and tactics in his polemics that often go uncontested in the blogosphere including but not limited to:

projecting the actions of an individual as an inherent trait of the entire group

taking the most extreme opinions and interpretations of Islam and asserting them as correct, normative and mainstream

conflating culture with religion, guilt by association, regurgitating Orientalist ideas, and weaponizing,

revisiting and at times forging history to suit his arguments.

Denying the Bosnian genocide or claiming it as an exaggeration

Consistently promoting conspiracy theories about “Stealth Jihad,” “Eurabia,” the eminent “Islamization of
America,” and the infiltration of Congress by “Muslim spy interns.”

Because Robert Spencer preys on the gullible, confused, and fearful in order to stoke the flames of hate and intolerance in their minds and hearts against Muslims at large, and Islam as a religion – rather than against terrorism and terrorists.

Because Robert Spencer claims to be so right, that no one dares prove him wrong, despite the numerous rebuttals of his shoddy slap-stick “scholarly” writings posted here, at LoonWatch, and elsewhere.

Because Robert Spencer claims to be so right, everyone is afraid to debate him and prove him wrong; yet, he consistently prefers to play dumb in turning a blind-eye to our calls for a debate, knowing that it would spell the end of his 15 minutes of fraudulent fame and deception.

Because we wished to grant Robert Spencer’s wish in responding to his false claims objectively, consistently, with universal logic and scholarly evidence. This site is simply an online database of the above for easy access and use.

Because the West needs a website that will consistently expose Robert Spencer’s simple-minded analysis of Islamic and Muslim events.
