Activists who launched an initiative dubbed "I witnessed harassment" said in a report Friday that more than 60 percent of women who were in downtown Cairo were subjected to sexual harassment, including areas such as Qasr al-Nil Bridge, Abdel Moneim Riad Square, and Talaat Harb Street. The statement added that some incidents involved violence.

Most of the violations were carried out by boys between eight and 20 years old, with a few cases of perpetrators over the age of 20. The age of harassed girls ranged from between 11 to 20 years old.

Actually , this sort of groping exists , because their apparent islamic society is not facilitating quick marriage of young folk , Ofcourse they're is a solution to the problem , but it is not being followed , couple that with the fact that , Egyptian women are well known for their physical beauty and their dislike of veiling themselves, this phenomenon is going to only increase

What on earth are you talking about Zubber? We are human beings, not animals. Are you suggesting that because men and women aren't being married off to each other at a young age, that it is causing men to sexually harrass women and that Egyptian women can expect to be man handled because they don't want to wear a veil?

Right, everything and everybody is blamed, except for the ones actually doing the harassment.

Ok before anyone flies of the handle , im talking in reference to the type of society that exists in that region , blame is equally on both parties , their society is supposed to be run in a specific way , that way has certain conditions which are not being fulfilled , leading to the problems that we see and hear

Why do you think the veil is a factor in being harassed? Women in the West don't wear a veil and they're not harassed near the levels veiled women in Egypt are.

Except for neighborshoods where women predominantly do wear hijab. Man, even the projects in Amsterdam South-East are considered a safe haven now compared to Amsterdam-West.

Thats the problem..these guys are not monkeys..they are humans..so they act accordingly..monkeys dont give dam to those girls

Normal people do not go round groping the opposite s.ex. That's the behaviour of animals.

They make Neanderthalers look civilized. What do you think happened? Is it their upbringing? Pure sexual frustation because of the society they grow up in? Or something else?

I think their lifestyle coupled with an unhealthy view of women is largely to blame.

You view women as second class citizens and you live segregated lives.

What could go wrong once you see women on the streets, right?
