This pulverisation is new to me...

Russian death squads ‘pulverise’ Chechens

“We disposed of her body in a field. We placed an artillery shell between her legs and one over her chest, added several 200-gram TNT blocks and blew her to smithereens. The trick is to make sure absolutely nothing is left. No body, no proof, no problem.” The technique was known as pulverisation.

startling insights into the operation of secret Russian death squads during one of the most brutal conflicts since the second world war.

The men, decorated veterans of more than 40 tours of duty in Chechnya, said not only suspected rebels but also people close to them were systematically tracked, abducted, tortured and killed. Intelligence was often extracted by breaking their limbs with a hammer, administering electric shocks and forcing men to perform sexual acts on each other. The bodies were either buried in unmarked pits or pulverised.

Following an inconclusive war in Chechnya from 1994-6, Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader, launched a second war in 1999 and set the tone by vowing “to wipe out militants wherever they are, even in the outhouse”. More than 100,000 Chechens are thought to have died by the time the Kremlin declared earlier this month that it was over. Grozny, the capital, was all but flattened. Putin’s toughness earned him great popularity at home.

“We are not murderers. We are officers engaged in a war against brutal terrorists who will stop at nothing, not even at killing children. They are animals and the only way to deal with them is to destroy them. There is no room for legal niceties in a war like this. Only those who were there can truly understand. I have no regrets. My conscience is clear.”

It is totally sad that the entire world forgot about the forgotten war in chechnya. About the attrocities commited by the russian armed forces against the muslims populace.

The video haunts me till this day and sends chills up my spine about how a chechens head was held under the boot of the russian soilder and then his throat slit with a long blade and eventually completely behaded and then the army unit went about to play soccer with the freshly decapitaed head.

I cannot even fathom how much of an animal and stone hearted a human can become.

What did you see? "Home video?"
Now you just read a sad story of another "eyewitness".

I personally saw hips of ruins instead of high-rise residential buildings that had been burst in Moscow at previous night and in alive broadcasting the captures of school and big theatre. TNT on bodies of innocent children looked also terrific. Who were those people? Kind Muslims?

Why do you speak about Muslim factor? There was no such factor at all. It was a war for Russian integrity after break-down of Soviet Union. There were the same separatists problems in neighboring Georgia although the separatists aren't Muslims.

Any war is a cruel thing; especially guerilla and both federal army and Chechens weren't angels. It's easy to judge sitting a few thousand miles away from the conflict and watching some video from youtube.

^^^ Spoken like a US dull propagandist.^^^

It was and is Russia. Nobody came.

What did you do covering Serbian cities with bombs far far away from your borders? You started this dirty game. Real XXI century was started after that.

You know Russian gov. always looked what the West speak and do. Then they followed the same way.

^^^ Oh come on... for all ya military expertise and commando warfare, you couln't free a frickin theater( Moscow 2002) from a hostage crisis? You had to resort to chemical warfare(cowards), which ended up killing civilians instead.
Learn from India, two 5 star hotels seized, and yet their commandos were so effective. They did'nt resort to chemical warfare or negotiate with terrorists? ^^^

Look at what ya'll have done in georgia and chechnya...Ur army goes around rapin, pillaging what do ya expect roses in return?

MCL, follow your language with f... theatre. I don't say such things about NY twins and will never.

You are a young man and probably you've never seen any death so close.

Ok. I'm done.

Continue your dance on graves without me.

It seems Russia has what it takes in order to defeat terrorists. US doesn´t.

I fully supported the NATO!

Right you are, every country has the right to defend itself and the integrity of its borders.

Your 2 sentences are a little bit contradictious.

Both Serbia and Russia tried to save their integrity.

At the other hand I don't quite understand why you said "NATO!". It was US air force, not "NATO!"

Are you trying to say Mladic and Karadzic did what they did because they tried to save Serbian integrity?
Btw, when I said I supported NATO, I mean in 1995.

I was talking about another "deed" in 1999 - bombing Serbian defenceless cities by US air force after Serbia had tried to keep Kosovo kicking out Albanian expats.
