Do you agree that the Koran says that wives are to obey their husbands and that husbands may beat their wives if they are disobedient?

BTW, how is that the 'wahabbist' interpretation?

shafique wrote:I do indeed recall asking you to explain which women should only learn from their husbands and keep silent in church, and why this verse didn't apply to all women. I'm still waiting for the reply.

1 Corinthians:
14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Have you now got an answer? Who are the 'your women' being referred to?

As for the Quilliam report - as I said, I agree with you and them on this and have congratulated you for joining forces with Muslims.

I totally agree with what God says in the Quran, but disagree with your erstwhile interpretations.

I applaud you for highlighting the fact that Muslims like Quilliam are speaking out against Wahabi/Orientalist interpretations - eg that Islam allows men to beat up women.

So, now I've answered your question - how about the highlighted question above?

(BTW, did I congratulate you for finally siding with Muslims?)

cheers,
Shafique

So, you agree with the Koranic injunction that women are to obey their husbands and that husbands may beat/discipline their wives when they become 'rebellious'?

As for the NT, I am not surprised that you disagree with a passage that says that wives should have authority over their husbands' bodies.

Anyways, I thank you again for that double pwnage.

Avoiding my question by asking a different question. Interesting tactic.

Why aren't you answering eh? Do you have an answer?

(I agree with the initial report you posted - they are critical of wahabism and list a number of issues).

So, did you really write to the UN or was it 'All Mouth..'???

Cheers,
Shafique

So we agree that Muslim women are to obey their husbands - and that husbands may beat their wives if they are disobedient (like children).

I like the reverse psychology, or was it a trick question? (I've been pretty clear that I agree with the Muslim report of this title and have congratulated you for eventually siding with Muslims against wahabism - well done).

Or perhaps are you just avoiding the question I posed a few times now - who did you write to in the UN?

All Mouth, No Trousers - again? Surely not.

Well, you never did get around to telling me how my 'interpretation' of the passage in the Koran for husbands to beat their wives is a wahabi interpretation.

Care to explain, or are you dropping nice sound bytes?

Happy to explain in any of the numerous threads on what God says about women in the Quran - all to be found in the Religion forum.

However, I'm still waiting for your answer to the question: Who did you write to in the UN, and did you copy in the Muslim group Quilliam?

(And your memory is playing tricks on you again 'eh' - I suggest you go back and read what Quilliam's report says and what I'm agreeing with you and them about! Or did you not actually read what you posted? It wouldn't be the first time)

Cheers,
Shafique

I deleted your repetition of your last post - as it has been answered above. Questions about what God says in the Quran can be asked again in the numerous threads on the subject in the Religion forum (this is the politics forum).

The unanswered question relating to this thread is in my previous posts.

Shafique please dont waste your time with this ignorant person. Simply he is another person who isn't happy with Islam thus just want to blabber about his pointless thoughts. It's him who blindly take the verses literally.
