The 'settlers' in the West Bank are following through on threats to disrupt the peace process - punishing Arab residents of Palestine for the Israeli government's actions.

We know that these guys are extremist Jewish colonists and many normal Israelis are exasperated by their antics - vandalising and graffiti and arson. They don't want to give back land Israel captured in 1967, and use religion as an excuse.

It's an unfortunate act and something I unreservedly condemn, but we have to understand that attacks like these (as few of them as there are) are a response to Islamo terrorism and supremacism.

In a similar vein, a Christian church was firebombed in Pakistan a few days ago, but no major news story (or loon oriented madwatch website) ever so much as carried the story.

Makes you wonder.

Yeah, that's the reason the Israeli police gave for the attacks isn't it eh?

The mosque was set alight and vandalized late Sunday night in what police suspected was a "price tag" operation by nearby settlers wishing to protest Israel's West Bank policies.

Colonists burn mosque in a 'price tag' attack and loon says it is because of 'Islamo terrorism' - and the young one couldn't resist a 'what-aboutery' argument could he? :)

Do you visit planet earth often? What is the weather like on Loonville?

Cheers,

A positive side effect of the burning:

Rabbis condemn attack on West Bank mosque

Rabbi Froman and a Muslim cleric raised a copy of the Koran in the air
Rabbis from Jewish settlements have given a box of Korans to a West Bank mosque as a gesture of solidarity after an arson attack blamed on settlers.

Palestinians cheered as the rabbis and other settlers arrived at the village of Beit Fajjar in bulletproof cars accompanied by Israeli soldiers.

The attackers set fire to a carpet and a dozen Korans in the mosque and wrote Hebrew slogans on the walls. The army has vowed to find the perpetrators.

BBC also summarises the situation in the occupied West Bank:
*62% under full Israeli control. This area contains all Israeli settlements, roads used by settlers, buffer zones and almost all of the Jordan Valley
• 38% under Palestinian civil control. In more than half of this, Israel has security control
• There are 149 settlements and 100 outposts (settlements not authorised by Israel)
• Population: 2.4 million Palestinians, nearly 500,000 Jewish or Israeli settlers
