"Lessons In Apartheid" Needed

Whilst some people are in denial over the racial discrimination that takes place in Israel and the areas under Israeli Military Occupation, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz regularly highlights the discrimination and uses the word Apartheid to describe the 'separation policies' - which, many people will know, is that 'Apartheid' is. Apartheid literally means 'separation'.

Israel needs a few more lessons in apartheid

Zionism did not merely pave paths of ethnic discrimination in the occupied territories. Discrimination against civilians exists in every corner of the country.

Scholars of the social sciences know how to defend a public opinion survey. In their way of thinking, this is a scientific tool with which it is possible to assess feelings and understand positions and trends at any given time. Together with these "quiz shows" that supply the masses with a glimpse of the mood of the public, we are also able to familiarize ourselves with the personal feelings, points of view and tendencies of those who conduct the polls.

Zionism did not merely pave paths of ethnic discrimination in the occupied territories. Discrimination against civilians exists in every corner of the country. Research institutes and the media, whether intentionally or not, cooperate with this discrimination and also perpetuate it. In parallel to that, the slogan "a light unto the nations" is repeated here ad nauseum. It is therefore worthwhile comparing the situation in Israel with that among "the nations."

Take, for example, the Population Registry Law. During the era of apartheid in South Africa, the citizens of that country were forced to register themselves with the authorities on the basis of their skin color: white, black or colored. In Israel it is not possible to oblige people to sign up in the registry according to their race or color, since the Jews themselves belong to assorted colors and races: Some are white because they came from Poland or Russia, and others are dark skinned - from Yemen or Ethiopia. With no other option, the Zionist mind was forced to invent a unique solution that was suitable to this place, and which answers the need for separation, and thus it was that the registration was born, of Jews, Arabs, Druze and so forth, in the Israeli Interior Ministry.

Another discriminatory law that was enacted in South Africa allotted separate living areas to different races. One can compare it with the local law about selection committees, whose entire objective is to make it possible for various community settlements to chose who will be allowed to become members - based on ethnic background.

Recently the state has managed to peek into the bedrooms of the Arab citizens via the Citizenship Law, which places restrictions on their marriages. And the last word has not been said on this matter.

The election season is drawing close here. This will no doubt bring blessings and money to all who deal with it, first and foremost the polling institutes. From reports about the surveys we can learn that ethnic separation is alive and well, both in these institutes themselves as well as in most of the Israeli media. Indeed, the latter will pounce on the polls' findings. Politicians will rush to check their popularity among herds of voters. The disappointed politicians who lack inspiration and intelligence will turn to recipes supplied to them by the witch doctors known as media advisers. These witch doctors will instruct the aspiring politicians how to win the support of the masses. Between them and their followers, they will no doubt explain that a political platform is not as important as the show: The more the hopefuls sweat, run around and appear on every screen, the greater their chances of influencing the average voter.

The public opinion surveys also tell us, as noted, about those who conduct them. "If elections were to be held now," the pollsters tell us, this party would get this number of seats, and that party would get that number of seats. Then, at the very end of the detailed report about this and that, within the context of the "menu" of Jewish-democratic parties, will come the eternal sentence: "And the Arab parties will receive such and such a number of seats." Because in the eyes of every "educated" Zionist, every single Arab is an Ahmed, or is assumed to be an Ahmed.

It is therefore not clear why so much time and money is being spent. After all, the election results are a forgone conclusion: 110 Knesset seats to the Jewish parties and 10 seats to the Arab parties - is that not so? Here is yet another lesson in the apartheid sciences.

Sad, but their is hope in that not everyone in Israel is in favour of this discrimination. The ultimate hope is that, like South Africa, one day this will be a thing of the past!

Shafique

This troll is really obsessed with Israel.

Remind me again if religion is not a requirement on ID cards in numerous *Muslim* - the faith of the troll starting this thread - nations?

Actual religious bigotry and outright discrimination gets a pass from the troll and other Muslim holy rollers.

Please stop trolling and bringing your whataboutery excuses here.

In many ways, your post proves my point in the OP about denials.

The apartheid slur against Israel has its origin in an antisemitic nazi in the early 60's. Nuff said.

The actual charges against Israel are actually toothless.

The article spins some registration process that is normal around the world based on race or religion as something inherently "apartheid".

What is "apartheid" of a registration process? I don't know and the author doesn't seem to either.

The second example of "apartheid" are local community committees that have the right under the law to select whom they want to live in their communities.

Is this racist? Well, are laws in Indonesia requiring the approval from citizens if churches can be built in their area similarly discriminatory?

Hmmm, tough call. No doubt our resident Antisemite will justify the one law in Indonesia but spin the other law in Israel as apartheid. This is, of course, the easiest way to root out Antisemites, like the opening poster, from people genuinely concerned with human rights.

And the article ends with an absolute kicker conclusion:

It is therefore not clear why so much time and money is being spent. After all, the election results are a forgone conclusion: 110 Knesset seats to the Jewish parties and 10 seats to the Arab parties - is that not so? Here is yet another lesson in the apartheid sciences

The fact that eh is in denial and calls the racial discrimination in Israel as 'toothless' is most interesting. There were similar apologists for South African apartheid too.

The definition of a 'what-aboutery' argument was coined in the context of people coming up with excuses for Israel's actions (and indeed those who say that criticising Israel is equal to anti-semitism):

Q: What about those who argue that the disproportionate attention paid to Israel and its actions is in some way itself tainted with anti-Semitism?

A: This is what is called "what about-ery." What about this other country, or that one. I think it's the least attractive form of defense. To say "Well, yes, maybe I did do this and this, but over there, they did worse." Well, this creates a playground defense when you are resisting a punishment from the teacher, but I don't think it has any real moral weight to it. Criticisms have to be addressed in their own terms, and if they are felt to be disproportionate it's unfortunate, but I don't think it necessarily is anti-Semitism.

I really don't understand why those jumping to the defence of Israel's actions feel the need to resort to what about-ery. Does this show that they can't actually tackle the facts, other than just denying they are serious?

Nope, just pointing out the difference between an Antisemite and someone truly concerned with human rights.

But we could always take this conversation to any of the threads you've started highlighting religious persecution of non-Muslims by Muslim nations...

No, wait....

And as I said, government obtaining information on race and religion of its citizens is hardly discriminatory or racist. Very strange argument indeed.

Oh, and are Arabs in Israel prevented from forming community committees and excluding whom they want from living in their neighborhood?

You are free to start yet another thread on your blogger-only theories - but please try and stop trolling my threads and stick to the topic at hand.

This topic is about the very real racial discrimination being highlighted in Israel and areas under Israeli Military Occupation, and in my OP I made the point that pro-Israeli posters are in denial about Israel's discriminatory practices.

Very real racial discrimination? Such as...census information?

Good grief. The Antisemites must try harder.

Good, I'm glad you are now addressing the points in the Haaretz article. That's a great first step.

The next would be to realise how silly you look by resorting to your usual tactic of spinning and selectively presenting the reality of Israel's discriminatory practices. But hey, it is a great first step - so bravo.

Apartheid discriminated based on racial classification. Israel requiring a similar classification and then using it to discriminate is indeed one of the 'lessons in Apartheid' the article is referring to.

So no actual examples of racial discrimination by the government. Just citizen information that numerous nations collect and selection committees where Arabs may abuse what the Israeli government allows and prohibit Jews from living near to them.

It's an unfortunate unintended consequence of Israeli law, but hardly racial discrimination against Jews by the Israeli state.

I'm surprised that you are sticking to denial of the actual racial discrimination that takes place by the Israeli state. The discrimination against Arabs by Israeli citizens is another facet of the discrimination in Israel, but it is State discrimination in the form of laws and practices by Government/council bodies which constitute the Apartheid.

I think it is very concerning that real discrimination is being excused as 'unintened consequence'! That is a weasly excuse and a monumental piece of mendacity.

The article refers to the laws which underpin this Apartheid.

Previous threads on the implementation of the Apartheid have been posted - I suggest you read them:

All that volume of words and you still can't show one example of Israel's "apartheid practices" (see Muslim nations on actual apartheid).

Selection committees are allowed to decide on who can become members. Wow.

Now, do you have evidence that selection committees were allowed this power by the Israeli government with apartheid or racial discrimination in mind as you allege?

Even the author didn't try to make that claim. He probably would be expected to defend such an allegation.

But for a loon on this website, defending one's argument and repeating incorrect statements are one and the same.

Actually, the threads do show actual examples of real discrimination.

Why do you think that just denials of this Apartheid is a valid method of discussion of the issue?

B'tselem, also documents the actual discrimination by Israel, in a number of reports:

So much for 'incorrect statements' and other excuses.
