I have never heard the Quran explained this way!!

I know Shaf....this is in Politics, but I thought it was too good to be in the less frequented Religion Forum. You can of course move it to Religion if you see fit!!

I tell ya, I could listen to this woman for hours. She exerts such a pull on you to make you want to stay intently listening to her!!!

I'm reading her book 'After the Prophet' right now.

I'd only point out that what Lesley describes is what is actually understood by most Muslims (but hey, why quibble over a thread title?)

Thank TJ I didn’t notice this in the religion forum...
But you know what’s appealing about this lady (apart from knowledge) is exactly the same skills we admire in people of similar background ..that is “flowing eloquent talk”...Rhetoric speech is really an art isn’t it?
she has some poetic touch too..

She makes such an excellent point about how apparently easy it is to misquote the Quran - and indeed how with relatively little effort one can get to the truth of the message of the Quran.

Sometimes the best presentations are the ones which are time limited - this one is under 10 minutes.

I am not sure about that, Shaf!!

At least, not the Muslims I've come across. Plus, I didn't really affirm that she knew more than the Muslims, but she seemed to know more. I wanted to add the word “seems” to the title (instead of she knows, it would be “she seems to know”), but the word “seems” would not fit in that long title!! Hence, I instead added a question mark at the end of the title!!

At least we agree it is a great presentation. It's just that in my experience, her explanations are indeed what most Muslims I know believe and try to get across - I fully concede that your experience may be different from mine.
