Comparing war crimes to excuse any war crime is particularly despicable, IMO.

The fact that the Palestinian side is willing to overlook this one war crime is, however, an example of the concessions made by the Palestinian side.

And thank you for illustrating, yet again, what a 'whatabout-ery' argument looks like.

Cheers,
Shafique

Since when have I been interested in your opinion?

But seeing as you are giving yours, I will give mine, evicting 100 families from their homes isn't a war crime. What is a crime is the mass rape of muslim women at the hands of their muslim 'so called' leaders.

Not surprising that you gloss over this by repeating yourself as is your usual line of retort.

That would be a "move along nothing to see moment". When Israeli's removes houses with toilets attached to their most holiest site (the Western Wall), than it is considered one of the worst war crimes ever.

The temptation to feed is strong, but trolls, by definition, are not interested in actual debate / discussion but parroting the same old tired off-topic straw-men...WMD's, Ricin plot and 100 homes in 1967...so predictable ...

Thnx shaf, I am just done with talking about history on DF, we just keep saying same stuff on different threads and when someone starts something new some ppl make fun of him/her and take us back to the same bla bla bla...
think future, Israel / Palestine problem is a matter of time, and I am sure all of us inside (including Israelis ) FEEL (not sure may be) that if there is no peaceful solution sooner or later war will take place... its not my opinion, its what always happened over history, there will be another Bin Laden, another Hitler, if justice is not clear enough, each party will apply justice the way he like it...

Well said Mahmoud - we are where we are, so let's look to the future.

Haaretz's point is well made (as I said in the OP) - and even refers to the 'pointless' and 'hopeless' arguments being put forward by the fanbois above.

Let's see the quote again:

The chance of resolving the conflict lies in pragmatic arrangements to divide the land, which would lead to a new relationship between the two countries, Israel and Palestine. But Netanyahu is evading the task of building the future, which will inevitably require Israel to withdraw from the territories, evacuate settlements and divide Jerusalem. He prefers to entrench himself behind a pointless, hopeless argument about the past and demands that the Palestinian narrative be rewritten.

WW2 taught us a lesson in human nature, and that extremists only lose their belief in their cause when brought to their knees. Germany didnt surrender till the last minute, Japan had enough after being hit with 2 atomic bombs, Britain and the US wouldn't surrender even after having seriously shitty attacks brought on them.

My point is, solution lies in conclusion...and unless one of the sides would reach that, the war will continue.

There must be a suitable solution that makes the majority on each side happy, or there will be underlying resentment that breeds future conflict.

As the Haaretz article points out, the arguments in favour of Israel's continuing occupation are tired and worn out.

Newt and those who share his discredited beliefs should perhaps have consulted the Israelis who know the facts laid out in the OP.
