What if users had to write 50+ non politics topics before they can write anything in politics?
And if they start politics topics in other forums they get banned?

It is worth a try, but if some of the trolls have been patient enough to create new aliases every few days over the past month or so, writing some 50 + posts will take them a day two and they'll be back in the trolling business.

Firstly, thanks for the clean up Andy - much appeciated. There are still aliases which will be used, and hopefully they'll behave for longer this time round.

Your suggestion for the 50 posts is good, and should stop the casual trolls. For the more determined trolls, I think the current system where you are informed once the infestation becomes apparent should work fine.

I'd suggest also that say for the first 200 posts, the newbies aren't given 'voting' rights to up vote or down vote posts (or even report posts - that will save you from malicious campaigns to smear the regular posters). Conversely, the regular posters can highlight trolling behaviours from the newbies during the 200 post initial period.. and when say 4 or 5 posters have highlighted a suspected troll, you can come and have a look and take action.

Just a suggestion.
