Shafique is like that. He'll quote a million and two articles inherently from a country where there is no freedom of speech. He'd much rather choose to believe propaganda as opposed to facts. Or maybe he'd much rather choose to spread propaganda as opposed to facts. Get the point Mel?

Interesting comment from MCL.

I've only quoted a handful of articles relating to the popularity of Ahmadinejad - and prior to that quoted information about Mossadegh, the Shah, Savak etc which were not challenged for their factual content.

So one article states some suprising facts about Iran - but was light hearted. Another was more detailed and from a US think tank that is not sympathetic towards Ahmadinejad and yet highlights why he is popular and may have indeed actually won the election.

I've been asked why I believe this analysis - and the answer has been consistently - 'I have no reason to doubt it - as there's no indication it is not factual or a propaganda piece - if anything it addresses the facts presented elsewhere including the objections of the opposition'.

I've been grilled on why I quoted this piece and still supported the opposition movement, accused of being a liar or a hypocrite... but all I did was give a seemingly objective quote from an article shedding light on the current day issues.

And let's face it, the article was entitled:
'Western Misconceptions of Iran'
http://www.realclearworld.com/articles/ ... n_rea.html

I'd have expected the evidence and arguments in the article to be tackled, rather than my support of minorities etc. :)

Cheers,
Shafique
