It has not been a good week for Saudi Arabia’s morality police, defenders of the kingdom’s strict Islamic values and the scourge of young men and women who dare to meet in public out of wedlock.
This week, reports emerged of Saudi women not just fighting back but besting the intimidating guardians of public morality.
This case occurred in the eastern city of al-Mubarraz, when a member of the Mutaween, as the volunteer force is known, stopped a young couple in an amusement park and asked them to explain what their relationship was, since it is illegal for women not accompanied by a male relative to go out in public, let alone fraternise with another man.
According to the Saudi daily Okaz, the young man was so frightened by the officer’s questioning that he passed out — but his female companion, incensed at the intrusion, hit the morality policeman in the face so hard that he had to be taken to hospital.

Excellent!

Can you imagine what a ribbing the guy will get when his mates find out he was beaten up by a girl!

Last time I was in Saudi, the Mutawa attempted to close down an event I was organising on behalf of a member of the Royal Family as the men and women were able to sit in the public viewing area without any segregation in darkened conditions where 'loud music' was being played.

They were not too politely escorted off the premises by the local police force and banned from entering the site!

Thankfully their power is waning purely through public and official pressure as people have finally realised that they are a self appointed body and have no jurisdiction in law.

She was right cause in islam one has no right for suspicion,fault- finding and bidding against the other.

Can you imagine the shock on the Mutaween's face if the ladies pulled out light sabres from under their cloaks and chopped the sticks down to size!
