Arab countries may need to unite first before it triggers a chain reaction that catalyzes other Muslim countries to join the Union.

Some countries are religious because the government says they are and their choice of religion governs how they rule - the Vatican for example. European governments are secular and allow citizens to choose and practice their choice of religion, that's why I say they're not Christian countries. I'd agree the majority of the population in Europe is Christian but I didn't think that was your question.

Turkey has been almost begging for membership for decades which European Union never accepts. Yet much poorer countries who were Soviet satellites were accepted. Turkey remains outside the helm. One must wonder.

As a resident member of one of the EU countries and together with a big interest in world politics, I think I can help you broaden your viewpoint on this one.

I agree with you saying about the simplistic description of 300m Arabs.
But we Europeans have a fundamental difference in our way of politics. We are secular. State and religion are separated and may never be intertwined. That is one of the major differences of Middle Eastern / Arab nations, that have religious leadership, or should I say dictatorships. Its more appropriate as the free choice and free will of people is cornered by these so called 'leaders'.

History points out that those religious leaders are not representing the entire population of a country. Also people do not speak out in some of these nations with 'dictatorship' as the religion forbids them to be a true democracy and choose leaders and religion of their own. They are forced into a direction for some way of life the leader feels appropriate.
The only way to break out of this type of dictatorship is to form an alliance with other tribes rulers and landowners to form some form of 'terrorist' bond. It actually isn't terroristic in essence, but to overthrow such existing system needs force and a rigorous change of mindset for people to support such new movements. Force against an establishment ruler (or government) is called terror. As I see it, its just a desperate attempt for freedom. Not to say, that it is good. The new leadership might be just as evil or corrupt or appreciated.

Let true democracy and freedom of voice decide whether a country is prosperous or not. In Europe this development is way further than the Middle East and Asia.
Free trade also diminishes the differences and preassumptions of people. Over time it reaches tolerance and resilience. This is a base for unity as we know it in the Western world.

Its up to the relevant people to stand together and demand the freedom of voice. Freedom in opinion and freedom in choice.

Not saying that all leaders are bad. I actually have very much respect for UAE Arab leaders. Thats why I want to join them and help their nations be prosperous.

We Westerners are not all that bad. I'm not even a tad religious. Tolerance and respect is key. And Freedom of voice to discuss the differences and misunderstandings without getting busted heads.

And people; Europe is NOT the USA. Totally different.

As for secularism, that has been in place in Turkey for decades. So Turkey's lack of EU membership points to one reality, EU is a Christian Club.
