What is your thought on the relentless support by the American to Tibet’s leader De Le Lama.

Here is what I think.
I don’t think for a moment that the American doing it purely for the love De Le Lama or the Tibet people, but rather using it as a tool to bully and make sure that the Chinese government remains submissive to its whim.

There may be two side to it; it may be the attempt of White House to highlight the Tibetan National identity which would eventually cause a political conflict for Chinese, or it may be America’s commitment to the defense of Human Rights in the area.
Some might say ‘what’s love got to do with it’…

Before Chinese army invaded in 1953, Tibet was a monarchy and D.Lama was the ruler when Tibetans were desperately poor and the majority of the population worked as serfs for big landowners.
After 50 years in exile he may want want his old power back; who knows..

The people of Tibet has the right for national self-determination. However, the moment they achieve it, the ex ruler D.Lama will take over the occupation from the Chinese I believe.

The Tibet situation is a political hot potato for the Chinese. Anything the US government can do to keep the spud hot and bouncing from hand to hand will play to their political advantage.

Apart from that, the old Lama is a nice dude and at leat he is not advocating suicide bombing or crashing anything big with wings into any buildings. Maybe thats why the Chinese can walk all over his country?
