so guys i installed vista ultimate and it was a headache...
it beautiful, nice features but it hardly supports any third party software or drivers.
also its slower then XP.
Its like a range rover, you love it but its not practical... atleast for the time being!
Vistas main selling point is its new windows graphical engine.
Linux has the lead on this as its been something that has been actively developed for years.
I have used Ubuntu for a few years now and Ubuntu and most of the other man distros have evolved so quickly over the past two years, its really something else.
Gone are the days of trying to get hardware working, near on everything is configured out of the box. Its also an easy installation to make. It will even pick up your NTFS or FAT32 partition and dual boot your machine for you.
Anyway when it comes to eye candy, check this out (its fast as fcuk as well) ;
Ubuntu is ok... but it's not great nor is it polished enough.
I used it as a platform for about a year on my home computer, but eventually replaced it back to XP.
I recently tried it again, but I was saddened to discover getting the wireless working is still a pain in the rectum.
Vista on the other hand... I quite like it. It is polished and I have had no driver issues - but then again it is pre-installed on a notebook designed for Vista.
