What Phone Would You Recommend ? Aug 23, 2007
Righto.
I obviously would love the iphone, but that's not gonna happen here in UAE  I used to be a Nokia man [fairly straight forward, logical menus, compatible with most other devices, market leader, proven technology, etcetc], but the last couple of years, I've had a Sony Ericsson. More stylish, good functions.

It's now on it's last legs and I'm in the market for something new.

Certainly don't need it to navigate the moon, or boil kettles, or take 17.5 hrs of video, or play MP7. Just good functions, with style.

What can you recommend ?

LG Prada....

Beautiful phone!

Simple functions. Good quality camera.

Easy to use..... unless you have large, fat fingers!
The buttons are touch sensitive.

I have a Nokia E65. I love it.

I used to be a Sony Ericsson fan myself, but decided I needed something a little more swankier and this is really nice. The back cover thingy is leather, so you'll never chip it! Good batteries, decent camera, bluetooth etc, its fab. You can sync it up with your email & calendar & access the internet through bluetooth/wireless. Very user friendly, easy to use. The only thing I dont like is that the navigation button, which should be 'joystick' style, but instead its square shaped and you can only navigate using the 4 sides (go check it out and you'll see what I mean). Anyway you get used to it. Less than $2k.

I would recommend the N73 or any phone in the E series. They are quite decent and have all the features you would ever need in a phone.

Btw I read in an online article that the iPhone is going to be here by first quarter of next year (most prob January). It might have 3G in it as it is designed for the European market. So if you can hold on till then... :?: :?:

Get an iPhone look-a-like here.
Looks cool. It's cheap (<$200). It's China-made. But which branded stuffs nowadays that are not produced in China/Taiwan? ;)

Else, I'm looking also for replacing my O2 XDA. Something NOT O2 or i-mate or Nokia. They are all suck.
Something smart with QWERTY (no-slide) but doesn't cost a fortune. I'm thinking BB Curve (if tethered modem can be used abroad), SE P1, Samsung i600, or Palm Treo.

iPhone has been unlocked. it should be no time now before we're inundated with them.

Although if you look at the features, the china mobile ones have better features.

oh and going back to the original post, I have a Nokia e70, recently I've lost my faith in Nokia, but this phone is pretty good.

If you want a laugh you can read this review between e70's and iPhones,

Vulgar warning...

But there are so many problems with iPhone already if you read the net.
One says never buy version 1.0.

Not officially as seen in etisalat.ae but one can get (grey import) from souq.com (unlocked) or I could have asked my friend who'll come to Dubai in 2 weeks (in SE Asia it's been there since few months).
But the question is, can we use the handset purchased outside (not bought from Etisalat)?
