Is Vista Doomed from the Start? - From Tech Republic Nov 20, 2006
This pattern in Microsoft's Operating System Software. All these were launched with great hype and termed "good" products but the results have been mixed. A guy posted this note and its true in my eyes.. so is Vista really doomed?

Going all the way back to 1986: (Operating System: Good/Bad Verdict)

DOS 3.3: GOOD
DOS 4.2: BAD
DOS 5.0: GOOD
DOS 6.0: BAD
DOS 6.22: GOOD
Windows 3.0: BAD
Windows 3.1: GOOD
Windows 95: BAD
Windows NT/98: GOOD
Windows ME: BAD
Windows 2000/XP: GOOD
Windows Vista: ?

Most of us Geeks have used all these operating systems since the first Microsoft OS.

95 was such a big breakthrough, I wouldn't say it was "bad" in the least.

I still have software and games on 5.25" floppys and I have a 486 DX2 66Mhz to play my favourite games Space Quest, Kings Quest, Police Quest and Larry Laffer :P

I even have the commodore 64, a Mac IIe, the first IBM PC XT and the Gorilla game which was famous (written in Basic)

XP truly is a strong product. I hate those dorks who diss XP for crashing multiple times, when in reality they're using a pirated version.

Have no probs whatsoever with XP Home. You don't need XP Prof for home using, unless you have multiple PCs and make one of them as a Domain Controller ;)

When XP came, I didn't jump the ship directly as I was satisfied with 2K Prof. Jumped after SP2. So I guess I'll have to wait again this time until Vista SP2 come out :p

BTW, Outlook 2003 really really sux!
Had to use for mail and address/contact sync with my XDA O2 (Windows Mobile 5.0).
I would prefer using Thunderbird for email but anyone knows if there's a plugin or third party to manage address book in Thunderbird and sync to Windows Mobile's contacts?

I think Vista is going to be good. I can't wait until it's out. But on the other
hand if you are smart then you shouldn't use it until it's been out for a year
or so, cause new stuff always have problems and have to be updated. So
don't expect Vista with no bugs or problems, every OS has it.
