USB Mass storage drive problem XP Mar 26, 2007
hi guys,

i got myself an external hard drive....
...i bought a 320 gb seagate IDE drive and got it fit into a 3.5 HDD enclosure (some SKY brand) that is IDE to USB 2.0

i plugged it in and the device manager showed a mass storage usb device.....but i saw no drive in MY COMPUTER

i went to disk manager ...the new drive showed there but said UNALLOCATED....from there i made it active and format it using NTFS as the other drives....then reboot.

i still dont see the drive under my computer.
it shows under disk management and device manager only.

Please help

It worked...worked worked....yippee !

When i tried the disk on another computer..its read the disk..but coming back to my workstation...it again didnt display the drive.

I deleted the partition and re-activated the disk and format it THIS TIME SPECIFYING THE DRIVE LETTER and it showed.

Thanks a ton Mr.Ahamad

u really donot have to format and re-partition the disk with the hassle of backing up the data,

this would have been the first alternative, if you never formatted your drive.

seems like you already have a F:\ Drive or a e:\ Drive, so the usb device didnt show up.

am glad it worked for you
