oops! Jan 30, 2007
I have an apple ibook...I just got a new LG phone and I wanted to read the user manuel (it is on CD ROM) but it was one of those mini CD's...I didn't think that was a problem or anything, so I inserted it into my disc drive...

nothing happens...

I try ejecting it ...nothing happens

Oops, it is stuck in the abyss...
I think those are only for Windows (am I right?)

What should I do?
I know theres an Apple store in Ibn Battuta Mall...is this gonna be some long process to remove?

Anywhere else I can go to do this?

Any imput?
Thanks!!!!

Hi - the problem is not the disc formatting but the disc shape.
The iBook has a "suck-in" drive and your mini disc is probably somewhere stuck in the mechanism.

I would take it immediately to the Apple Shop as ask them if they can repare it, don't try and open it yourself as you will definetely loose the warranty.

Did you try tilting your laptop and gently (very gently) shake it - otherwise you might damage the hard drive.

Which iBook do you have? Mine has an automatic hard drive lock the moment the laptop is tilted so the risk of damaging it is much lower.

hey thanks for your reply

well the thing is..when I inserted it into the drive nothing happened..usually you hear the noise of it going in and processing...its just kinda hanging out in there...

I tried shaking it and it didn't come out :(

I have the ibook G4....I am not sure if it has this lock
Is this something that must happen immediately?? Waiting for a few days would be a bad idea??

ok when you say nothing happens, you mean the disk is inside the drive, nothing is happening and you can't open the drive right?

If that is the case your cd/dvd drive will have a small hole just beside or below the eject button, the opening will be enough for you to stick a straightened paperclip in it, this is the manual eject, stick a paperclip in it and the drive should open.

Good luck.
