Laptop Questions

I need to find out some information for bringing a laptop from Canada to the Middle East.

Will it work there? What about wireless? What should we load on it before bringing it there, etc, etc?

Any info would be appreciated.

Sure it'll work! And you don't need to get any specific software. You can find anything here. Just where are you going exactly? You might want to get a universal adapter as some countries use different standards. For instance, in UAE, Qatar they use the UK standard. But once again you can find adapters here too :P

If it works in Canada it will work here....

Most have 220volt capacity also.

Does Skype or Voip work there as well?

Wireless is wireless.... :)

Skype and other VoIP will not work anymore unless you are in a freezone or you bypass the proxy.

Coming to Dubai soon?

Liban, i am not really sure here...

skype is working fine outside freezone. In fact smack in the middle of Diera.

skype, netmeeting work perfectly. They just blocked the Skype website...

You are correct. It is the website thats banned. If you already have it installed on your system you can use it.
