My hotmail account sends me an email when I have a pm but every time I go to the link it says I don't have any new messages...Does anyone know why?
Any help would be great.

I've seen this happen too. Probably the sender deleted the message before you viewed it.

Or, maybe you viewed the message already before clicking on email link?

So... if the sender deletes the message before the reciever views it, can it actually delete from both accounts?

Not quite but the effect is as if the answer is yes.

There's only ever one copy of the PM in the database. Until you view it, the sender can delete it from the database (by deleting it from their outbox). After you view it, it's still in the same place in the database but it shows in the sender's sent box and s/he can't delete it anymore. AFAIK.
