The best antenatal classes in Dubai Feb 02, 2014
Well, when I had been waiting for my first child I haven't heard about such classes. During my second pregnancy I did attended classes for future mothers despite of the fact that it was my second child and wasn't disappointed of knowledge I received.
Here is information about antenatal classes that are organised in Dubai:
Health Bay Polyclinic, Umm Suqeim

How parents will benefit: From caring for yourself during pregnancy to the signs and stages of labour, when to call the hospital, how to cope during labour, pain relief and breast-feeding - these group sessions will provide you with all the information you need to navigate your way through pregnancy, labour and caring for a newborn.
When? Different days and timings - contact directly for more information.
How much? Dh1,500 for four hour-long sessions. Husbands are also encouraged to attend and a session is included for birth partners as well.

Cooper Clinic, Umm Suqeim

How parents will benefit: Starting from the third trimester, the course charts the progress of the baby and the mother during pregnancy, before focusing on the labour and delivery, different pain relief methods, the birth plan, as well as what to do in the ‘fourth trimester', when you are coming to terms with having a newborn in your home. The sessions are flexible to ensure questions and requests can also be included if a couple is worried about a specific issue.
When? Parents can either attend four Saturday sessions from 11am to 1pm or four Tuesday sessions from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
How much? Dh1,000 for a course of four classes or Dh300 per session.

Little Wonders Nursery, Al Manara
How parents will benefit: These birthing and parenting sessions have been designed by Cecile de Scally - an experienced midwife educator from South Africa - who aims to help mothers make an informed choice during their labour and encourages fathers to ask the right questions on behalf of his partner.
Aquarius loves... The fact that you can complete this course in just four weeks, along with a private session so that you can address any personal worries you might have one-on-one. Each class lasts two to three hours, so busy or travelling parents can get a crash course in antenatal care in just a month.
When? Classes run in four-week cycles either on Saturdays or Wednesdays, from 7pm until 10pm.
How much? Dh1,500 for a package of four group sessions and one individual session or Dh500 for individual sessions.

At your own home with Abu Dhabi-based http://www.expatdoula.com

How parents will benefit: Run by Annette Kirby, a qualified doula and former midwife from Denmark, these one-on-one sessions are informal, relaxed and cover everything relating to early labour, active labour, pain relief, breast-feeding and caring for your newborn. Kirby connects her laptop to your television to help you learn about the birth process and she brings teaching tools and a birth ball to educate first-time parents about different birthing positions. Other options include a two-and-a-half hour Caesarean special, a refresher session for couples who are already parents, and a session for parents who previously had a Caesarean section and now want a traditional birth. Kirby also offers sessions that focus on birth plans and debriefing past birth experiences to help couples come to terms with difficult past births.
When? Because these are private sessions, they are usually held at the parents' home during weekday evenings or whenever is convenient for the couple.
How much? Dh1,800 for five one-hour sessions. For busy working parents, the five sessions can also be divided into two two-and-a-half hour sessions. There is also the option to join a group session with a maximum of three couples.

Welcare Hospital, Garhoud
How parents will benefit: From your diet and exercise regime during pregnancy to what to expect during labour, how to care for your newborn, and what to do post-birth, these classes cover all the basics of pregnancy and childbirth. They also answer the questions you don't want to ask, which is particularly useful for parents who have absolutely no knowledge about rearing young children, such as what a baby will look like after birth, how to bathe a newborn and the changes a new mother will feel to her own body after the birth.
Aquarius loves... That they offer a class purely for fathers to help them understand their partner's mood swings and body changes during pregnancy, as well as what is expected from them during the pregnancy and labour.
How much? Dh2,000 for six classes or Dh1,500 for couples. There is also the option to pay Dh300 per class.
When? Classes run every Monday over a period of six weeks and start at 7pm.

There is also a guide to the equipment you will need in the first few weeks of parenthood. Parents are informed about the support they can receive post-birth at the clinic's Well Baby Clinic to ensure they know where to turn to if and when they need a guiding hand or some reassurance.
How much? Dh1,500 for four sessions.
When? The four two-and-a-half hour classes run every Monday evening.
