At your own home with Abu Dhabi-based http://www.expatdoula.com
How parents will benefit: Run by Annette Kirby, a qualified doula and former midwife from Denmark, these one-on-one sessions are informal, relaxed and cover everything relating to early labour, active labour, pain relief, breast-feeding and caring for your newborn. Kirby connects her laptop to your television to help you learn about the birth process and she brings teaching tools and a birth ball to educate first-time parents about different birthing positions. Other options include a two-and-a-half hour Caesarean special, a refresher session for couples who are already parents, and a session for parents who previously had a Caesarean section and now want a traditional birth. Kirby also offers sessions that focus on birth plans and debriefing past birth experiences to help couples come to terms with difficult past births.
When? Because these are private sessions, they are usually held at the parents' home during weekday evenings or whenever is convenient for the couple.
How much? Dh1,800 for five one-hour sessions. For busy working parents, the five sessions can also be divided into two two-and-a-half hour sessions. There is also the option to join a group session with a maximum of three couples.

Welcare Hospital, Garhoud
How parents will benefit: From your diet and exercise regime during pregnancy to what to expect during labour, how to care for your newborn, and what to do post-birth, these classes cover all the basics of pregnancy and childbirth.
