These photos are taken from the "Golden Sands 6" roof. It's a hotel near Standard Chartered bank. There is a Spinneys supermarket nearby and a Choithrams supermarket over the road. The Etisalat main office is also over the road.

The Etisalat is exactly in this direction. 
If I remember correctly it's in Al Khaleej Centre
There is also a Jumbo electronics, in case you want to buy a mobile, a HIFI system or a home Cinema.
note: Jumbo has many floors, it's just not obvious when you are inside.

Bur Dubai is the oldest populated area of Dubai. You can easily range it to 200 years ago. When it was used as rest area for sailors using the water channel.
