Shopping, skiing and snowboarding - Mall of the Emirates
Beach next to Burj Al Arab
Madinat Jumeirah - theatre, bars, restaurants
Car races - Dubai Autodrome or Sheikh Zayed Road
More here - things to do in Dubai :)

Area is good, will quiet after finishing all constructions...

I stay in the area. It is great as mall of the emirates is around the corner.
The only problem is too many constructions around.
